about the size of the isle of wight
The bible gives the dimensions [Genesis 6:15] the Ark's dimensions were 300 cubits, 50 cubit wide , and 30 cubits high. A cubit is defined as the distance from the tip of the fingers to the elbow which is approximately 50cms which means the ark was abot 150 x 25 x 15 metres.
Roughly about half the size of the QE2 apparently which is 293.52 by 32.07 metres
Which, by a peculiar coincidence, fits almost exactly the dimensions of what appears to be the remains of a gigantic ship, discovered on the side of Mount Ararat on the Turkish border in the 1950's. In the book of Genesis, the Bible says that after the floodwaters receded, the ark came eventually to rest on...Mount Ararat..!
Really TommyC? have you got any links about that? II'd be interested to read more
Seems like there's loads on the web about it a quick search found this site that has the images http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread46042/pg1

It seems that there's some debate over whether what is there are the remains of a ship or some other wooden structure or in fact an anomolous geological formation.

given that it is probable that we have yet to identify more than 70% of species on earth and have barely touched the oceans, bigger than anything the bible says.

sprogglin - presumably Noah did not have to worry about aquatic creatures!
Guavahalf- if the flood occurred by rain water as the Bible tells us, then ocean creatures would die due to the salinity crisis insuing. i'd take to ocean creatures in a big salty tank of water.
