wh won't my tortoises eat outside? also they won't eat the dried food from the pet shop. only seem to like lettuce and sometimes tomato. will they grow ok on this?

Are your tortoises young and do you live in the UK?
My 50year old came to us 30 years ago only eating toast and cucumber. These days he prefers defrosted peas, broccoli, beans, sweetcorn all cut up small. When I watch him from the window he happily eats grass and weeds like dandelions and clover which would be the natural diet. I've never heard of petshop food. There's always fresh water available. He hates tomato and lettuce but still likes cucumber and a bit of toast as a treat.
He lives outside all year round and hibernates when he's ready under a large box bush. We rake fallen leaves around him for added protection. You could google BATK the association for tortoise keepers.

To be fair woofgang, i doubt Tallulah! is doing much wrong regarding diet if she's had hers for 30 years and it's still going strong!

the trouble with tortoises is because they are such long lived animals, they tolerate poor care for amazingly long times before showing symptoms and when they do show symptoms its often too late to do anything...having been okay for 30 years doesn't mean that there aren't things going slowly wrong that will shorten his life.

So woofgang, Nothing very helpful here for sheila2155 and I wasn't asking advice as I joined British Association for Tortoise Keepers when I got mine. My tortoise plays chase with his footballs, anyone with black footwear and hated all the other tortoises when he went to a friend's for a week.
I don't actually like know-it-alls like you who can't say anything constructive.
