We've recently had a "large" flock of young blackbirds visit our small garden over the past week. I say "large" - between 8-10 youngsters - as we only ever see one adult at a time!

Has anyone else experienced this "flocking" of young birds at this time of year?

seen it with young starlings and bluetits where more than one brood with their parent/s came into our (then cat free) garden
Are you sure they are Blackbirds and not Juvenile Starlings? Only we have had an influx of juveniles this week.

Thanks rowanwitch and icemaiden for your observations!

They are most definitely young blackbirds (almost "hooligans" in their behaviour...lol !!!). There are still 4 or 5 around and they don't half make a mess, digging in the borders and flinging great amounts of earth around!! Am constantly sweeping up after them. The few plums we had on our tree have been scoffed, also assisted by a squirrel (didn't know they had a fruity-tooth!).

As for starlings, they have started roosting in our neighbours very tall leylandii trees!! Noisy, too....!
