A Rare Treat.

Was delighted to watch a Song Thrush half an hour ago whilst watering, dead heading, and cutting a vase of Sweet Peas. Not seen one for a long time. I had been watching the Whitethroats harvesting in the trees about 10 yards away and it landed on the fence, then came into the garden to have a drink from our water station. They used to be quite common as was the Mistle Thrush but I have not seen one, as I said for ages. Lovely looking bird. I know it was a Song Thrush due to the orange flash as it departed. Hope it comes back. Gardeners friend.

We are lucky enough to a song thrush nest in the honey-suckle over an old avairy in the garden once again this year they bought off four youngsterswhich is more than I can say for the birds in the avairy

Haha Cropper. What is in the aviary? The Thrush has stuck around and is happily gobbling up my Blackcurrants, but is also patrolling under the sprouts and cabbages for snails and slugs. We have reached accord.

I'm happy to say, song thrushes appear to be on the increase in my patch, although its been very dry they're still finding plenty of snails.

Togo I've only got zebra finches, Diamond Doves and button quail But I also keep Norwich cropper pigeons for showing and a few Fife, red factor and Norwich canarys and a pair or two of goldfinches
