Come on Ed...Stop all this nonsense with Avatars.
Things are not going forwards but backwards.
My Avatar is now like a chess pawn.
Someone somewhere is playing games and I am not amused.

I see your usual avatar - we've all fallen foul of the avatar- dragon in our turn - why get so steamed up about it. ron?

As I've said, many, many, many times: the issue is with Gravatar serving the wrong images. Our hourly update "cache buster" is a way of waking it up, but is not fool-proof.
You are already aware of this. I am unsure why you are posting about this issue, again.

I am posting again because I have my doubts that the fault is with Gravatar.
You have in AB my Avatar which is being sent to you and is correct in my profile. It's a bit like someone sending me an e/mail with a photograph and whatever alterations I make to the original photograph after I have received it cannot be blamed upon the sender.
Very annoyed....Ron.

Hi boxtops......I get bothered when I fail to understand things, correctly. My concern at the moment is that Gravatar is being blamed for Avatars being altered within the columns of AB, but there hasn't been any explanation for Avatars remaining correct within individual profiles. Hence the reason for my thought that something is going amiss within AB. after it has taken possession of the original Avatar.

It's a different avatar in the profile view due to it being a different size. when you see avatars in this view gravatar is sending a 64x64 version of your avatar, in the profile view it's sending a 128x128 version of it.
To use your analogy... if I was to email you a picture and then 5 minutes later email you a larger version of the same picture you have two entirely separate versions of that picture, the fact they are a picture of the same thing is irrelevant.

Chuck and jno...It now seems to be that I am whistling down wind on this one.:-)
I still remain at a loss to understand what is really going on. My Avatar has been altered on two occasions within the columns of AB and I do not know by whom or why this has been done; despite the fact that the image in my Profile has not been amended in any shape or form.

well, you could see malice in it if you believed in intelligent design, naomi, but it appears to have been just blind chance as you might expect in a godless universe. People have got all sorts of duff avatars (see Chuck's explanation above of why the profile ones differ from the on-page ones); the blue G that I got seems to be the most common, along with the grey men.
