Ads all over AB are one thing and I largely mentally blank them out.

However, I have just been "bombarded" by the National Geo vid and this is something that I could definitely do without........

Please spare us from this format, Ed!

Morning DT. Sadly there's nothing in the system (as far as I can see) to filter out ads which make noise. I assume you do have to roll over the ad to make it play though? They usually have a countdown timer which tells you when the sound will play? I've not seen it myself.

Also, stop banging on about "ads all over ab" there's the same number of adverts!
(We will remove the noisy ad once spotted in the wild)
I'm not on a tablet, and I haven't been attacked by the adverts - I don't like the big one next to Best Answer, it takes up too much room on the page IMO, so you can't see i anyone's already answered - but if it keeps the site alive,I guess we have to put up with it.
I renewed my car insurance 2 weeks ago, now on AB I keep getting adverts for car insurance and they are for my exact model of car so it must be a form of personal advertising.
I agree with Eddie on that point. I find whatever Ive just googling, tends to come up on this site
when we were on about the ice the other night, I had a whole row of ads come up trying to sell me a gritting machine :-)
Eddie: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1101857.html have a read here for a recent discussion.
I think I have a way to get this advert thing to work to my advantage, I am going to Google 'Free Beer' and see what comes up !
Oh for goodness sake, don't you realise the ads pay for this FREE site. You don't have to look at them, although I bought some of the lovely Forbidden Rose perfume which is advertised. Most of the time I ignore them unless I spot something I am interested in.

We hope everyone does this! Advertisers aren't actually evil, sometimes they've got a good product which you'd really like.

Good luck! Please report back with your findings!

I don't actually mind them just commented that they are personal tailored ads which I had not seen before.
No offers of free beer so far but I'll let you know.
In an attempt to get the national geographic ad to appear for me I've had a peruse of their site. First thing I thought when i saw this is how tasty it looked:

http://news.nationalg...1_news_shrimp20120208

The comment by a user called "skyheart" is exactly how my thought process went, i.e. "creature discovered >> Can I eat it? >> Maybe with chilli and garlic and a bit of soy sauce"
i'm with hillcrest
Hillcrest doesn't know good eatin' when he/she sees it.
you can not serioulsy tell me you look at the aneamic looking thing and think "yum"

i think arghhhhhhgrossgerritoffmethroughitbackwhereit
camefrom

not yum
Oooh yeah... I'd eat that shrimp for sure!
