Not infrequently ABers have a go at each other about incorrect grammar. Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a grammar section, without identifying individuals, where readrers could just give the incorrect and corrected versions of expressions they see on AnswerBank.

It's a fact of life that those with a grasp of grammar have a better chance of progress. I see nothing wrong with trying to help in a pleasant way.
ab no way
my typos would take up too many threads
..like wot I wrote.
Question Author
I'm good at typos too! This is meant to be about grammar.
//I see nothing wrong with trying to help in a pleasant way.//

Neither do I - if help is requested. Anything else is, in my opinion, incredibly rude, and is often construed as criticism.
if someone wants to learn about grammar they would look at a dedicated grammar site ...not look through a random collection of supposedly humourous corrections of other peoples writing, from pedantic people on here...
not sure how grammar corrections can ever be done 'with humour' ... putting a smiley face or a 'haha' on the end of a correction does not make it humourous...

as naomi and i have said - if a person cannot respond directly to the OP with humour, why would they go to a different topic to do it?
why do so many people come on here seeking to change the function of this site..?
its a really simple concept - people ask questions, other people answer them... people are always asking 'can we have this can we have that' for things that have nothing to do with q&a and that can be found elsewhere on the web if required...
I agree with Naomi, it is very rude to correct someone's grammar. In fact it is a put-down. I don't need anyone to correct my grammar, I already know it isn't perfect. If you can't accept me as I am, tough luck on your part.

Why then do those who don't like this item keep coming back, instead of just ignoring it?
Feel sorry for me because I havn't got any granmar.:-)

Ron.
do you have to like things to have an opinion then?
Question Author
No, of course not joko - and welcome back again. I'm beginning to think you are enjoying this.
i hate loose and lose being interchanged!
I like loose change!
// Not infrequently ABers have a go at each other about incorrect grammar //

People who do this are trying to show how clever they are, but they achieve the opposite and make themselves look extremely ignorant.
ludwig....I go along with what you are saying but feel that perhaps you should have used the word 'arrogant' instead of 'ignorant'. ( oops,..sorry, I am not trying to correct you, but endeavoring to support you)

I certainly dislike people in AB who draw attention to other folk's failures in regard to spelling and grammar.

I think that this question should be directly addressed to the Grammar Police.
I'm sure they'll be watching and reading with interest.
