Struggling with what to get my son for his 12th birthday. His only suggestion is "something for my computer" which is not that helpful!! We have probably spoilt him over the years so he already has a lot of stuff. In my defence, he is a very good boy - excellent report cards etc. and we could afford to buy him things. we also come from a large family that don't live close so they generally send him money which means he has been able to buy himself some large items.
He already has a decent bike, a computer/screen tv) etc, PS3, wii, DSs, a decent mobile phone, Ipod/dock and a kindle. The only thing he has mentioned was a gaming mouse but he plans to buy one with some amazon vouchers he got for christmas.
He is not yet interested in clothes/designer gear. He's a bit of a geek and likes techie stuff, games he likes are minecraft & skyrim. Not that interested in music, likes outdoor stuff (bear grylls/ray mears).
No point giving him cash as he rarely spends it so not really much of a present if you see what I mean.
thanks hc - he has a gaming chair and normal headphones but didn't think of wireless - i'll look those up :o) I did think about a camera but he tends to use the one on his ipod or phone, maybe a camera and some good software for the computer would be an option. tbh he got the ipod for Christmas and did use it a lot initially but hasn't touched it in a couple of months - think a tablet would maybe go the same way - he has a £15 itunes voucher that arrived as a late Christmas present that he hasn't even taken out the bag!
Ace - don't think he has discovered girls yet :o) Metal detector grass - maybe. he did have one when he was younger but it was pretty crap so he lost interest but if it was a bit better quality that might be different.
What he actually wants is a plot of land to build his new office block for his computer business on but that isn't an option!!!
he would do any of those activities hc but they tend not to have to many available round here and he has done a lot of stuff already via Scouts and school - he would like a canoe but we dont do that and can't exactly let him loose on his own - though he does have a first level qualification in kayaking/canoeing.
Yup - he's done a bit of geocaching with his holiday care club - would he need a satnav maybe??
So what does a graphics tablet do then - is it for drawing?
thanks hc and excelsior - there are some things he'd enjoy there but nothing much in Scotland - he'd love the spy one. The bushcraft he loves but does do a fair bit already with the scouts - the only one local of those ray Mears ones was £700!! Done laserquest and karting - sorry, told you he was spoiled :o(
He seems a well rounded boy. Are you going on holiday this year? If you are, maybe there will be an activity near to that he would enjoy that you could pre-book.
He must be a sociable lad with his scouts and everything - maybe he'd enjoy a group activity with his pals, with a meal afterwards at pizza hut or suchlike.
