On the news section today I have noticed certain words have a red line drawn under them, clicking on them brings up yet more adverts, are we going to have to accept such distractions?

I would say don't click on those words. Try to ignore their colour.
No, you have some kind of malware/plugin installed on your browser. It is entirely your choice whether you want to accept it as a distraction :)

If you're using firefox, go to firefox > add-ons and see if there is anything you don't remember installing.
Others have had this problem, so you're not in bad company :) http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/AB-Editors-Blog/Question1199367.html

Bad company or good company, that does not solve the problem Ed.

I have conducted a Malware scan and it did not come up with any threats.

It is very annoying when one tries a copy and paste action, and these adverts crop up from time to time.

It seem strange that we cannot get a similar provision to highlight some words on AnswerBank, but these advertiser seem to have little trouble in doing so.

Please Ed is there a solution to this annoying problem?
