... pod a pea?

Just had a sublime lunch of freshly podded peas, spuds that were growing in my garden less than 5 minutes before they started cooking and some artisan (read 'quite expensive') sausages.

Nothing else (apart from a *** of butter) - just perfect.

But I did then think "how many people pod peas these days" and even "do kids know what a pea pod looks like".

So - when did you last pod a pea?

OK Marlon ...
Surely life is to short to shell peas ?

Last time I did so was as a kid. Every one was a toil a that age. Took forever and a day to do the bowlful and be allowed to return to play.
the taste makes it worth while.

They are wonderful OG and infinitely better than frozen - the difference between Maxwell House Mild and a proper Americano :)
And here I was carefully formulating my reply and then get to the last line of your post SD :-(

I really don't know what is more satisfying than picking your way through the veg patch and venturing into the kitchen with your bounty, cooking and eating.

It is enormously rewarding and when I have small people visiting they are sent out to gather their supper.

Just don't pour chicken jus on your berries, it's nasty!
Sounds good to me sunny, although i would prefer Marafat peas...the *** AND mint.

Podding peas, reminds me of school....pea picking, so count me out.
God! you can say k.nob on AB.

I wonder if you can say ...doorknob?
Our first few pods never made it to the kitchen.....same story with baby carrots and radishes.
It takes ages podding them sugarsnap peas....
A slathering is that like a multiple knobing of butter...... can't beat very fresh peas a BIG *** of butter and some mint
Nothing nicer than sitting in the garden enjoying the sunshine whilst podding freshly picked broad beans and peas. With a nice glass of cool beer, natch
I can remember us kids climbing into the backs of lorries with our mums to go potato picking, where was health and safety then?
A slathering is a generous portion, a sort of pornstar knobb....
So it's just a very very big kn.ob Shoota, rather than multiple kn.obs
You start off with a big one Slaps and then you 'splash it all over'
