What's up Ed.? Why do posts that I'm involved in always get removed? Does someone keep complaining about me? Another one has been taken out; from Sunday night that was posted by honytonk, where he asked for rude jokes. Is this a site for growed-ups or not? Or is it a site where you constantly receive complaints from pubertal females with PMT? Come on Ed! What gives?

The internet is full of sites for grownups (you could try froggers, for instance); this isn't one of them. It's intended as a family site.

Here's one of the Site Rules:

9. You agree that any posting or contribution you make to such forums will not be defamatory, discriminatory, racist, obscene, offensive, threatening or in breach of any copyright or in any way unlawful or objectionable.

The AB rules are available to all 10C, just click on Terms of Use at the bottom of the page. They apply whether I am editor or just another user.

guess Ed will answer if she wants to. But she's answered this sort of question before, as have her predecessors, and the answers were pretty much as I gave it. Here is a related one, for instance.

It's a family site, with the requirement for decency spelt out in the rule I cited above; but it isn't monitored round the clock, so users are invited to report unsuitable posts when they see them. (I believe this facility was introduced at users' request.) This means no necrophilia jokes; 'but honkytonk started it' isn't an excuse.

If AB Ed doesn't reply you could try emailing the Contact Us link below. If you do, and the answer you get is way out of line with what I said, please post it so I'll know where I went wrong.

As stated previously this is a family site and is intended for the use of people of all ages. It is therefore necessary to remove/edit certain individual postings, or in some cases, remove whole threads where the content is not deemed to be suitable for the site.

10CS, although yir question was addressed to ABE, jno was only pointing out some of the rules in a helpful manner, pending ABE's reply. There are many questions addressed to ABE which others have answered before ABE has replied. We all know that ABE is a busy quine and I can't really see that any harm has been done.

your post appears in an open forum, which is the cyber equivalent of standing in Hyde Park. That means you get answers from other users, all of whom have a stake in the running of the site. Mine seems to have been broadly accurate.

This section is AB Suggestions, not necessarily the place to pose questions about why life is cruel (and - note the bit at the top of the Suggestions home page - specifically not the place to complain about other users, with PMT or not). If you want a private consultation with AB Ed, you could try the Contact Us link below.
