(which I shouldn't have to do), my daughter has recently returned to using AB, she got fed up of other users ignoring her posts but jumping on her lack of correct spelling and grammar, she puts up her first thread for months, and within two replies she gets criticised again. Like myself, she has a tongue in cheek attitude as regards her own contribution to this site, this has again made her think she shouldn't bother with AB. It is a pity, she does noone any harm and is a cheerful girl who brightens people's day. Can I suggest that there is a bit more tolerance on this site? Save the aggression for the wind -up merchants eh? (my daughter is peachy3 by the way)

She didn't. You just arrived after the abusive posts were removed. Two new ABers decided to attack her and she is just standing up for herself. I know it looks bad now that those posts are gone, but you're not seeing the full picture, that's all :)

A couple of weeks back I decided that if I couldn't beat 'them' I'd join em for a bit and go green. I know, shock! horror!, the big O carried out a little AB experiment.

I won't go into details, but I must say it was a most unpleasant experience. I was ganged up on by the coven, hounded out of threads, called lots of particularly nasty names, banned by the AB because the coven had all decided to report me, then reinstated because the Ed agreed that my threads were inocuous, and so in the end I just couldn't be bothered with their spitefulness.

There are some horrid people on here, and they are people I would recognise as 'regulars' who hog a certain topic with their inane nonsense. I won't name names, but I am watching out for them. Revenge can be sweet.

Octavious I also did the same experiment a while ago and was literally attacked on my first thread of Hello. As I said then I felt like a tame bird being attacked by a gang of wild sparrows it was really awful, and totally unnecessary.

Oh Octavius, you did an 'experiment'. Ok... so as you know, experiments must have controls and replicates. So why don't you show us your methods and results then and let us make our own conclusions?

drestie, if you wish to come up with some of your own conclusions I would suggest you hold your own experiment. I was referring to my opinion not the general concensus, but it does seem to be common.

lol Ollie. I'm no angel, nor would I ever claim to be (Trades Descriptions bods would have me on several points there lol) but I do think it's very funny what Octavius has done and am looking forward to the fall out which may, or may not, result. But, it's also quite sad that he and netibiza have experienced such a negative vibe. It reflects badly on the site and, by association, all of us ABers. Must admit, I wouldn't be too keen to join as a newbie these days. Felt a bit scary back in 2004 when I first found AB, but it's got worse since. There are some threads I would like to post on but don't, because if I said what I felt, my life on AB would be made miserable and I'd probably end up leaving. That said, my final post on this site would be very cathartic lol

This is only my opinion, but i think people have picked on greenies due to a certain Aber whose name i won't mention. Every single new person was under suspicion of being her especially a couple of weeks back. Everyone got slightly paranoid, just my opinion, as i said.!

I'm a bit confused. Who is in is this 'coven'? I honestly have never seen anyone attack a greenie on here without provocation.
I really hate it when everyone is fighting on here. It makes it stressful to log on, rather than fun and entertaining like it used to be. I think in the past few months, the general vibe on this site has really sucked, which has in turn made it a great target for trolls.
Even in the other sections, there is so much fighting and animosity. I really used to love this site, and I have made some really great friends on here, and this just saddens me so much.

Clearly there's something here which needed to be aired. Whether you've seen it or not, others have reported their experiences on this site, and I take them at their word, 'green' or otherwise. I don't know, perhaps you have as well, after your initial answer to Octavius.

I have never seen a greenie be attacked and hounded out either - the only time i have seen that happen is when the greenie has made it clear ( or have slipped up and given themselves away) that they are an old ABer just out to stir things up or new stupid little idiots trying to offend. I have never seen an innocuous post get that much stick.
