I am confused. You say Mother's day is this coming Sunday, but here in the US its May 11. Who is right, or do you celebrate earlier in the UK?

realaleman, did't I see (you figuratively speaking ) in another post of mine? I believe it was about working in the UK. I am currently looking into dual citizenship since my grandparents are from the Basque Country. I'm sure the US was diffewrent when they emmigrated in 1912.

I read some up on this legend, I surely hope you are not accusing me of being this person. AB editor can vouch for my identity. Just look up the records. My e-mail is right there. Challenge me direct or back-off.
It was all a crafty conspiracy of the Church, to make sure the congregation turned up in sentimental and generous mood, the government, who avoided having to create a public holiday, and the makers of marzipan, whose product is the covering layer of every Simnel cake :).
(The American version, 'Mothers' Day', may have been a crafty plot by Hallmark but I see from Wikipedia that that's not entirely true LOL)
In 1946 my re-married mother sailed to America as a GI bride. For the rest of her life that caused me a problem with
Mothering Sunday and/or Mothers Day. I had to buy the card
here in England and save until time for posting for the American celebration.
My daughter was born on the 9th May. When I reported this to mother I was in trouble for recording it as 9.5, which to her meant 5th September the previous year.
