In the 1950's my Mum charged 17/6 a week for bed breakfast and evening meal !
They had to buy the food for the evening meal though if they wanted it and Mum cooked it .Otherwise it was fifteen shillings .And the hot water was taken up every morning in a washstand jug ! She used to let the front room downstairs ,the front bedroom upstairs ,the sitting room was turned into the dining room and we had to hoof it in the kitchen :)
I accepted sweeties from a sailor and ended up married to him :-0

Snap shaney, well I don't know how much she charged but we had quite a lot of rooms. My job was to sweep the tablecloths after every meal, we, of course, ate in the litchen. Where were you living then?

Lottie those are very nice shoes if you can wear thongs in the toes, I can't anymore as they really annoy me, but yes I would wear those if I could!

Shame on you woofy, although all the sailors on those boat rides were really nice and kind to us.
At least you're in outdoor mode shaney, I'm wearing me slippers :o) I hope the rheumy can sort you out, I think it's time I had a review, it's my guess I have a lot more 'itis' now as well as 'algia'...maybe for you it's t'other way round?

Your rash sounds to me Lottie like some kind of contact dermatitis...you haven't been snipping any hairy shrubs/plants have you? Do you have a rhus in your garden? Try some antihistamine (if you haven't already)
Lovely shoes and I love the green ones in the same style but I think they might look heavy on me...and yours neti, would look ridiculous on the end of my white sticks. :o)

I was talking to my sis yesterday about whether I/we were too old for some fashions (then we both bought cropped jeans, lol) & I asked her if she'd noticed how... erm....<being careful here>... women over 50ish seem to start wearing white trousers & that I'd secretly started fancying some (jean style) and was it a 'sad menopausal thing'?....hahahaha
She did say no, women wear them over a certain age 'cos they've no whipper-snappers wiping their snotty little faces on them :o)
holiday camp...my idea (and my mum's) of HELL!

I know Robi, but it's because we never went and I thought we were missing out on fun!
nice sandals, Lottie, though if your feet are orange they might clash a bit.
Hi Robbi, yes I too I think it is contact dermatitis or exzma which has got infected and not impetigo. I also have an idea that sun causes it because I get it when it's summer and hot and also when I haven't been gardening. I have being taking an antihistamine because of my hayfever, and using hydrocortisone on it even though you shouldn't on your face but it hasn't made much difference. It was definitely at the stage where it needed a blastic with antibiotics. My skin is generally quite clear. This makes me feel grubby.

I like the green sandals too Robbi, but I have nothing green!!

There are some women over 60 that start wearing sage green and beige and look totally washed up.

Actually, I think we should wear what we like and what suits us. However, I wore leggings in the 80's and definitely would give them a miss now.

I love Neti's Sandals but I quite simply couldn't walk in them. I now have to rely on shoes/sandals/boots/trainers that all have footbeds.

I am so tempted by those sandals.................. shall I....................... mmmmmm...................... perhaps tomorrow....................
I'm OK with thonged sandals Neti, my toes are spaced quite widely. In fact I find them very comfortable because there are no thin straps over my feet. My little toe tends to poke out the side of most sandals!!!
New word 'blastic' !!!!!
OMG I've lost the plot - please substitute 'washed up' with 'washed out' !
We were here in Gorleston then Neti .That was the heyday of the seaside landlady and the place used to be packed .We had wheelbarrows to go and collect peoples luggage from the railway station.Yes Gorleston had a railway station in those days! Of course now we don't get nowhere near the amount of emmets as back in those days and those that do come stay in hotels or caravans . Our holiday camp is long gone .

I love those shoes Lofty but I can't wear things like that now, well not to trudge about in .Not that I'm in trudging mode at the mo' :)
Yes I must have a lot more 'itis Robinia .I took my old bone scan with me from 2000 and he was shocked at how bad it was then so it must have got worse over the last ten years .
White trousers ? Nooooo :))
Somehow missed the bit about you going to the docs. Shaney. Glad you went, and hope you will get an appointment shortly with the rheumawatsamithingamijig man.

Shaney, I loved looking at that, they seemed such happy times.

Lottie I also have gaps between my big toes and normal toes, but have such sensitive feet (only Mr N can touch them) that I cannot abide anything poking between them! In the 70's all I ever wore were rubber flipflops with no trouble, except used to slip out of them in the heat walking uphill, so had to rub foot into dust to get a grip, and that was when I wore shoes which wasn't too often!
*throws dictionary in the wall and stops searching for 'blastic'*;-) My toes are "spaced-out" (he he) too Lottie but the thong-thing still hurts incredibly. I'm sure I've seen ads for angular plaster though, to be worn as a preventive measure where the thong would otherwise carv into your flesh. I say go for those sandals! Is 'thong' really the word or is that just our modest Ibiza biddy making associations. Neti I love your sandals and can't help but wonder what you would have bought if you *hadn't* considered your biddyhood - piccy, please! I took my Birkies plastic clogs out for a walk yesterday and now have open wounds all over my feet. Had to stop and buy plaster and sit in the grocery store and apply them - yuk - before I could proceed homewards. Yet another pair of shoes I can't use - 'cept indoors:'(
Dolly? I'm not sure if you were referring to me with what you said there. If you were, please write me an email and we'll try to sort things out, shall we? I'll tell you - better than I have before - why the emails you forwarded were so utterly painful to me on a very personal level. I haven't gone into those private details with you before and I didn't really want to, but if it can make things better for us on the biddies I want to do it. I know what you mean about words having a strong impact - it works both ways. Words are powerful things - in forwarded emails as well as in real life situations. But I'm willing to try to make things as right as they can be by sharing some of my personal history with you, if it can make a change. And if you *weren't* referring to me with what you said... oh well... then I've just made a fool of myself with saying this, but then so be it:) Anyways, congrats on your greatgranddaughter with the very lovely name:) Here's a clip for when you babysit her as she gets a little older - research has shown that footage of sleepy animals helps human children go to sleep - well at least as long as their greatgrandmothers don't giggle out loud at how funny the animals look:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsyuNpves44

This type of thing, swedie. Oh to be younger, I love boots.
*drools over sandals* I honestly think you could have got away with wearing ^^those, Neti. But the ones you did buy look EVEN better to me:)

right, a couple of showers on the way tomorrow, but that's really not enough - I need a downpour so it will test our new flood defences. Anyone with any spare water can bottle it and email it to me.
