Loads to buy online - google "lighted magnifying glass with clamp"
There are loads on eBay if you search on that description
Your local optician may help.
You might find these head-band types to be more useful. You can just flip the lens up when it is not required.

The type recommended by stewey are good because you can flip them up when you don't need them. Avoid looking at wasps with them though.
They are extremely functional, jomifl. Trouble with a clip on lens for what josy requires it for is that she would have to probably keep on repositioning it. I use one for clock and watch work.
Stewey, I use one for repairing clarinets and flutes, mine has an extra high power flip down lens for those extra fiddly bits, probably not necessary for painting unless life size ant portaits are in vogue.
Perhaps we should have mentioned that you can flip the entire band up, and not just the lenses, when magnification is not required.

I think i have seen them sold on the craft sites, such as cross stitch.
My Mum has had one like this

for years (but her doesn't have the light). She swears by it as it leaves your hands free.
Hello,
I use "Ottlight" and/or "Daylight" to light/magnify my easel and workspace. Neither are cheap, but without them artwork would be a non-starter! I find that having the correct spectacle prescription coupled with excellent lighting, brings my eyesight back to something like normal.
However, if you wish to work in magnification, you really need a desk lamp with magnifying glass combined. I have one which I bought at an Artfair, but there is no maker name, sorry.
Lighting is the most important BUT Please visit your optician before investing in magnifiers!
Hope this helps,
