Afraid I know very few of the people on the list but a few do stand out for me: Capability Brown, William Morris and L S Lowry. Am I allowed to vote as I'm Scottish and we have our own notes?
Dave , from Money supermarket.
Question Author
I would expect so, Charles Rennie Mackintosh is on the list, so they are letting Scots in :)
Oops Milvus, so he is, missed that one. Thanks for pointing it out - maybe will vote now.
Thanks for the link, I have nominated the brilliant Henry Moore.
William Blake, though an interesting and unique bank note could be made from the work of Edweard Muybridge.
Wow that link tells us there is a 'Bank Note Character Advisory Committee ' I wonder how many are on that and how much they get paid?
Question Author
Eddie, the Bank of England's Character Advisory Committee is: Sandy Nairne an, Baroness Lola Young, Sir David Cannadine BoE Deputy Governor, Ben Broadbent, and BoE Chief Cashier, Victoria Cleland. To create the shortlist they have added John Akomfrah, Alice Rawsthorn and Andrew Graham-Dixon for their experience in visual arts
^^ So how much do that lot earn for a 'non job'?
Eddie; My daughter is a graphic designer and her firm having done a lot of promotional work on the publicity for the launch of a new note depicting the chosen subject a few years back, had it all scrapped because the committee discovered at the last minute there was 'area of darkness' in the life of the chosen person - whom I'd better not name. They are very cautious, and probably rightly so.
Question Author
Why do you think it is a non job Eddie? Not a fan of the arts?
I'd bet they meet a few times a year and get paid £10,000s for a few hours work.I would like to be on it.
Eddie, closest I can find so far is 'The advisory committee are paid an amount per annum decided by the Trustees'.

I am sure if you search out a detailed annual report it will be better itemised than that.
Question Author
Eddie, the Bank is a Government Unit and is under Freedom of information. Ask the Bank for the costs of the committee, they will have to provide details
Edith Cavell?
Mamya?
Yes DTC?
Come on folks, join in!
O.G. ?
Jeez. I'm not wading thru that lot. Alan Turing.
