Unknown book title

A long time ago I read a book about a woman who starts an affair with a man she sees whilst crossing the road. They have a passionate relationship resulting in her leaving her husband and living with the new guy. He used to be a mountain climber and had been the sole survivor of an expedition in which his girlfriend had died. However it then transpires that he had in fact murdered them all and this woman finds out and the book turns into a thriller... Does anybody know the title? author?

It could be "Killing Me Softly" by Nicci French http://www.twbookmark.com/books/57/0446608386/ . It was recently filmed (though apparently the film isn't too hot) with Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes.

WOW, yes, it is Killingme Softly and i just started reading it today as it came with a free copy in classic fm! (yes im 24 male and no classic jokes pls lol) the book is very emotional and i can't help but hate alice as my g.f betrayed me also. but i can't put the flipping thing down. even had people on the train today in london chat to me about it lol
