Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Correct me if I am wrong but, Purebloods-Both parents were born with magic. Muggleborn- Both parents are muggles (like Hermonie and Justin) Halfblood -One parent was born with magic, the other is a muggle. (Like Seamus and Tom Riddle.

I still think it's Tom Riddle because he is a Halfblood and he like a sort of prince to Salazar Sylithren, to heir to him. And also JKR said It's not Harry or Voldermort- But didnt Dobby say this in the COS?? not Voldormort but meaning Tom Riddle.

The Halfblood prince might not even mean a 'Halfblood prince', it might mean 'the prince of the Halfbloods' -a leader, protector etc of Halfbloods.

Okay, it can't be Neville because in OoTP it said that he was a pure blood as is Malfoy. It could be Hagrid but I think that it's a little too obvious. I'm also re-reading CoS to see if I can figure it out.

First of all ive read a lot of ur answers and i want to say one thing...It cant be riddle he was destroyed, i barely remember mark evans and hes only 11...he wont be able to do anything to deserve the name HBP in terms of magic, and its not malfoy...in OOTP they said hes pureblood

and continuing on from my other post....I think that the HBP is dobby....if hagrid can be half giant and still be considered it....maybe dobbys mom or dad was a wizard???? maybe dobby joins forces with the death eaters and get info for the OOTP??? So i think its either dobby or G Lockhart

There are only three people possible to be the half blood prince. 1)Hagrid - He was framed for being the Heir of Slytherin in the 2nd book. Is it possible Tom Riddle framed him for another motive. He is half blood and it is possible his mother was the queen of giants. 2) Salazar Slytherian - Why? Even though many people will dismiss this ideas, because he only wanted pure bloods in his house. However, so does Voldemort and he is half blood. It also stated on an interview with JK Rowling a day before Order of the Phoenix came out that Death Eaters were orginally called the Knights of the Prince 1,000 years ago. Slytherian played a huge part in the 2nd book. Could it be him? 3) Godric Gryindor. Just a wild guess.

Maybe Hargrid or Dumbledore. Could be Seamus - he's half blood. Or even Sirius! Who knows? Who's Mark Evans anyway. I think it'll be a new character to be honest.

i could definently be wrong but i personally think the hbp would be hagrid. cuz think about it, we don't know much about his father, except the fact that he died one year b4 hagrid was framed for opening the chamber of secrets. maybe his father was killed because he could have proved that hagrid didnt open the COS.... so someone (voldy) had to kill hagrids father? and we only know a little about hagrids mother,we have no idea what rank she was in the giant world. but i do think the mark evans theory is a good one also.

I feel that the half blood prince could be either Justin or Seamus because neither one of them has been discussed in detail or else it's a new character. But I do believe that the key clue from the COS has nothing to do with who the half blood prince is. JKR said it herself that a discovery Harry made in the novel COS is key in HBP

You are all crazy!!!! It's so obvious it's Dean Thomas. We don't know who his Dad is. He lives with his Mum and STEPFATHER. But I also agree with the Romulus Lupin Theory. JK Rowling does always have a Reason behind her Character Names. Will someone please inform me if I'm incorrect. Thanks

JK would never introduce such an important character so late in the Series! Anyone can prove me incorrect, I don't really care, as long as I get the book.

I think it has to be Hagrid. I don't think Rowling would introduce a new charactar (this IS the sixth book), and we've known Hagrid since the beginning of Sorcerer's Stone. Also, it has always been known to us that Hagrid was a half blood, and, even after revelations in the last book, there are still some mysteries as to his origin. Half blood could mean alot of different things besides 1 muggle 1 magic parents.

I think the prince is Malfoy. I agree with magic_freak he does get treated like a prince. And he also points out that Hagrid said"no witch or wizard alive isn't half blood". So it is probably Harry's rival at Hogwarts, Malfoy.
