Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Ok, I just watched the first Harry Potter movie twice in two days. In the movie after the sorting ceremony, theres two seconds of conversation between Seamus and someone else stating that Seamus is half and half. In the book it is a little bit more subtle, but in the movie, the clip stands out like a sore thumb. I mean why would they put such a simple meaningless thing in the movie like that... or is it simple and meaningless?
Jk has already said that Mark Evans has no significance, and that she regrets giving him the surname of Evans (see her website under Rumours Answered). I would bet the Prince is a new character, maybe a foreign wizard, or a wizard from the past. Look for clues in the Hogwarts graveyard, which she says will come into the story in Book 6. Also, don't forget about all the stuff in the Dept of Mysteries. Harry still has the mirror. Did you notice only he and Luna can hear the voices behind the veil?
Also: Jk says the clue to the end of the story is in book 2. Think about WHAT, not WHO. Harry slew the monster of Slytherin with Godric's hat, sword (and probably Pheonix)-Dumbledore sais, "Only a true Griffindor could have pulled that out of the hat" I don't think he just meant someone in Griffindor House, but a TRUE Griffindor (HEIR). The heir of Griffindor battles the heir of Slytherin. It's obvious, isn't it?
personally i think anything is possible. Sirius could come back and doing so he would no longer be a pere wizard. he would be like partly ghost or something. otherwise i would say ginny but she's a girl. i think colin and bro are both entirely muggle born. a more obvious answer would be someone we think we know. but stuff like this always has tons of twists. perhaps snape has/had a family. a son perhaps.
Well, I agree he might be a new character. The halfblood prince might be the real person the "lost prophecy" speaks about...the one who could equal You-Know-Who, born at the end of the seventh month, whos parents have fought with You-Know-Who thrice and is halfblood. So maybe in the 6th book..he will be introduced. But if that happens, what has harry got to do with all of it, if he's not the one the prophecy refers to?
Well JKR has said that it isn't riddle, what next?!?!?
I think it's one of Harry's roomate at Hogwarts. Maybe it's Seamus. On the first book, I remember he said he was half-blood. Or maybe he meant there was someone really nice to half-bloods and the half-bloods named him their prince. I think JK Rowling was really mean to kill Sirius on the 5th book. Now Harry lost his godfather. Maybe the Weasleys will adopt him!
Well I think it would be Ron because even though his parents are both magical i have always thought he was a little strange and had a little something wrong with him.
I didn't remember the name Mark Evans from the HP books. I am pretty sure it's not in there. I think it's there's several guesses 1. harry's twin-he don't know about his parents so for all we know he might have an evil twin or something. 2. Dumbledore-he's nice to mudbloods,half-bloods and purebloods. 3. Maybe Tonks had children or something. 4. Gilderoy Lockhart-JK Rowling never puts in names for no reason so maybe he got his memory back. 5. Fudge?-he's mentioned in the 2nd book and maybe he's half-blood. 6.Madame Maxine-she's a half-blood. 7.Ginny?-maybe it's not a guy afterall and she was introduced at the 2nd book.
I really think it could be collin creevy. Rowling said that this book would be closly related to the 2nd book, and that alot of the stuff in it she seriously considered putting intot eh 2nd book. Collin Creevy has been a charecter without any real pourpose in the series yet, and he was also attacked in the 2nd book.
I have several theories about who it could be. 1) It could be Grewpy ( Hagrid's Half brother giant) who according to the fifth book still lives in the Forbidden Forest. 2) It could be Grewpy's children. If hagrid finds him a wife. 3) It could be Hagrid because of his dad being a muggle. 4) It could be Voldy's father after Voldy revives him. 5) It could be a completely new character like someone of you have stated. 6) It could be James Potter's siblings or relatives 7) It could be someone like Seamus Finnigan's relative 8) It could be one of the ex-Aurors from the Ministry. The other question that evolves from this question is do you think that the Half-Blood Prince actually good or evil? Another amusing question is how Harry is going to escape from Dursley in this book? With so much suspense, I bet this will be a good book. They are claiming that 2008 will be the year for this book. Final Word: This prince most likely have to do with Dumbeldore, Hagrid, or someone else. I wish Harry Potter gets into more of fighting death eaters especially Belltraix Lestrange. Harry should use the unforgiving curse on her.
I just had a weird idea. What if it's Dudley?! Petunia never even say James Potter's name. What if they had an affair and James abandoned petunia?
Who is Mark Evans? Do we get a different copy of the book if we are in the States? Can somebody PLEASE explain???
hiya! it think its one of he marauders...ok so we no t izn sirius cuz hes pureblood an i think so is james (mayb not) an remus was in the magical world b4 he actually came to hogwarts ( rememba he got bit by a werewolf as a kid) so dat leevs out peter...ryte? but peter bein a prince an all? ok im keepin up my hopes for it bein one of the marauders.
my guess is gilderoy lockhart is the HBP.
my friend came up with the idea that it could be dean thomas and after thinking about it for a while isnt it obvious??????on her website jk rowling put up an entire background for him which would be a bit strange if he was just a normal unimportant student.i think hes a halfblood and jk said that she put some information in the second book which wouldnt be very relevant then but would be important later on.that information had something to do with dean thomas.coincidence??????
MARK EVANS was the ten year old boy dudley dursley was beating up at the start of the fifth book.i dont think hes the half blood prince read my answer before this!!!!!!
HEllo didnt Rowling say he was introduced in chamber of secrets it must be Colin Creevy!
Those fools who believe Mark Evans has any significance to the story obviously have some sort of mental problem. JKR said herself that she regretted putting Mark Evans in the book. I believe the HBP is a new character or a simply over-looked one. It will not be a main character in other books but JKR reveals it has something to do with what Harry finds out in The Chamber of Secrets. She also states the mirror Sirius gave Harry comes into the story later on so maybe it has something to do with that...
i think the half-blood prince will be hagrid, he is half giant and they did say that they needed to convice the giants to join their side for the upcomming war, also Rowling said that she had orignally put this in "Chamber" and in "Chamber" is were we learned about hagrids past so that could easily be were the information was going to be, honestly i just cant wait for it and i hope it comes out SOON!
