Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I really don't know (and nor even care about) who the Half Blood Prince will be. But I'm sure about a few things. Firstly it's not Harry nor Voldemort 'cause JK Rowling has said so. Then it's not even that Mark Evans you are all talking about, because it's still the Rowling who says he's not. I deeply reckon it could be Albus Doumbledore but I haven't a clue about it. Anyway it could be anyone else: Neville, Justin, or a new character. Talking about the "Prince", I think it have to be metaphorical, 'cause the story is about a magocracy, not a kingdom. Finally, I think that if JKR has written "Half Blood" the "Prince" will necessary be an half blood. (answering to the ones who think it's not a strict meaning). Nice site after all. Bye all. Netvampire
I'll repeat you again that the HBP it's not Mark Evans and he's not even going to have a role in the next two books. Rowling herself has told it. And it's likely that Justin will be it 'cause it's the only character that acted in the COS, who is a half blood. And please stop talking about malfoy, a real HP amateur knows very well that Narcissa's maiden surname is Black, one of the most ancient, pure blood, families in the HP world. I'm not so sure that this is a nice site. BYE anyway.
This is kinda stupid, and maybe difficult to understand but maybe the HBP parents were both wizards but one of the sides of the families grandparents where muggles, for example even JKR says Harry could be considered 'half' wizard because his grandparents were both muggles. and even says on her website about this "If you think this is far-fetched, look at some of the real charts the Nazis used to show what constituted 'Aryan' or 'Jewish' blood. I saw one in the Holocaust Museum in Washington when I had already devised the 'pure-blood', 'half-blood' and 'Muggle-born' definitions, and was chilled to see that the Nazis used precisely the same warped logic as the Death Eaters. A single Jewish grandparent 'polluted' the blood, according to their propaganda." you can check the rest of it out at her sites FAQ.
How's this for a theory?
We know this is true: Slytherin made the Chamber of Secrets because of an argument he had with Gryffindor about letting non pure-blood wizards into Hogwarts.
Well.. what if, out of his anger at Gryffindor, Slytherin vowed that his heir (Voldemort) would kill Gryffindor's heir (well... what if that was Harry?) Then logically... Trelawney's prediction was fulfilling Slytherins vow by provoking Voldemort (Slytherin's heir) to try to kill Harry (Gryffindor's heir)
Well, then it would also make sense if Godric Gryffindor was the half-blood Prince since we learn a lot about him in CoS and also, this storyline would have tied in perfectly with CoS even though J.K. Rowling chose to omit it until a further date (Book 6)
I think it's Seamus. JK said that the halfblood prince isn't Voldemort(including Tom Riddle) or Harry. I was reading on of JK's interviews and she hinted, maybe let slip, that Seamus plays an important role, plus when she was on the subject of the halfblood prince she mentioned Seamus so I think it's him and he's half blooded.
Ok, Does anybody here read JKRowling official site? First, stop saying its Tom riddle, tom IS voldemort and Jo said it wasn't harry of voldemort. Second, It can't be Neville or Malfoy cuz they're both pure blood. By the way, the one who said it was Hermione...please...I mean, its disheartening...!
It could be Dean or Seamus...
What about Snape? Jo never said he was a pure blood...and he was not on the tree in Black's house...Plus, Jo said we will see him a lot in book 6...Just a thought...what do you think?
rowling herself confirmed that the prince is neither harry nor lord voldermort(www.jkrowling.com). so if you say voldy is the one, then you are definitely wrong. visit rowling's website if you don't believe me. www.jkrowling.com.
i think a new character will be introduced in this upcoming book. and that particular character is the prince. i think.
ICONHOTEL - I THINK YOUR THEORY IS SPOT ON. IVE BEEN THINKING ALONG THE SAME LINES. COS WAS ABOUT THE HIER OF SYTHERIN AND JK DECIDED TO REMOVE A STORY LINE COS IT GAVE TOO MUCH AWAY... WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN WHO THE HIER TO THE OTHER HOUSES ARE.
HARRY BEING GRYIFFIDOR HIER WOOD FIT IN WITH THE 'VOLD VS HP' = 'GRYF VS SLYTHERIN' IDEA BUT THE EXTRACT FROM THE NEXT BOOK DESCRIBES SOME1 WHO (TO ME) RESEMBLES A LION- MAYBE A GRY.HIER SO IS IT HARRY? OR THIS PERSON? OR SOME1 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT? BUT IS THE GRY.HIER THE HBP?
MAYBE THE HEIR TO THE OTHER HOUSES MIGHT BE INTRODUCED AND I FEEL DUMBLEDORE IS GOING TO PLAY A PART.
POSSIBLY RAVENCLAW HIER, HE HAS A CONNECTION WITH BIRDS..FAWKES, HIS PATRONUS IS PHENIOX, JUST A GUESS.BIT POO
BUT THEN THERE IS HAGRID..WHY DOES DUMBLEDORE TRUST HIM?
HOW DID HE KNOW HAGRID NEVER OPENED THE COS? IF HE KNEW IT WAS TOM, Y DIDNT HE ACCUSE HIM? MAYBE DUMBLEDORE KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT HAGRID? SOMETHING FISHY THERE
THEN THERES SNAPE... STILL DONT NO BOUT HIM YET.
WELL THESE ARE THE THOUGHTS WHIRLING AROUND IN MY HEAD, I STILL DONT KNOW WHO THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE IS BUT I FEEL ITS GOT SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIERS AGAIN

i agree with a theory that half-blood prince is Draco Malfoy. Because in book four Narcissa Malfoy-Draco's mother, didnt really look happy at the Quiddich Cup, therefore i think, she doesn't love Lucius (who would?). and if that's the case, she might've sleep with someone else (muggle?), just to get her thoughts of her unhappy marriage, and get pregnant, and after that say that it is Lucius's son, which it wouldnt be, but it would make Draco half-blood, even though he wouldn't know it.
Also there's that "prince" thing, and who else could more "princy" (is that even a word?)in Hogwarts, more then Draco?
also i would like to say something to the theory that Half-Blood prince is Gilderoy Lockhart. In fact i think, it is possible too, but i kind of always liked Malfoy better (love blonds!) :)
DUDLEY DURSLEY !!!!
He's been in every book, Aunt Petunia is definitely NOT a Muggle (Squib), and Dumbledoor even made a reference to Harry not being a ....."spoiled royal brat....', and was obvioulsly referring to his cousin. Perhaps, Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon were so shocked by the letters because they had agreed to take Harry in on the condition that Dudley NEVER receive any letters nor be made aware of his wizzarding bloodline at all.
i agree with you Luna16 i do feel rather sad when people are ignorant and don't know what they are saying. but i disagree on the hier part. i actually do think harry is the heir of godric gryffindor. remember what dumbledore said in the CoS. "only a true gryffindor could have pulled that sword out of the hat" that might be a clue leading to believe that harry is truly related to godric on either side. remember the potter family wasn't in the most noble house of black, the black family tree. and you barkybytes you reaLLY NEED to read the harry potter series again, i mean come on, dobby? seriously! but you know you may be right.
Well i have a couple of therios JKR in her sight quotes that half blood is a person like harry potter...his mothers grandparents are muggle.... muggle born is muggle parents...but JKR said harry was not HBP nore is voldemort and (tom riddle is voldemort so its not him either). The only way it could be neville longbottom is IF one of his parents was a muggle born....therefore these r my choices as to who it could be....HAgrid because he is half blood...Seamus finnagin...or plainly a new character...so ur guess is as good as mine
