Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

When tha Hogwarts waz first created Gryfindor would stick up for all half bloods n muggle borns. From reading above from some of tha posts i found out that gryfindor means some sort of lion in Lattin and we all know that jk can speak Latin. Also the griffindor symbol is a lion so what if 2 say that Griffindor waz a half blood of half breed and waza part human and lion. From all this i have come 2 tha conclusion that its most probally GODRIC GRYFFINDOR!
It's not Harry or Voldemort. JK Rowling even said so herself. and why would the book be called Harry Potter AND the half blood prince if it were Harry? The other halfbloods in the book are Crookshanks (half cat, half kneazle), Hagrid (half giant) Lupin,(half blood wizard, werewolf),Seamus ("Me dad's a muggle, mum's a witch. Bit of a shock for him when he found out"),McClaggen (a new character- J.K Rowling relased the character name at the August 2004 Edinburgh Book Festival, no one knows much about the character except for JK Rowling)or the new character described on JK Rowling's website ("He looked rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp.") And someone mentioned Mark Evans. JK Rowling said that Mark Evans is NOT related to Lily Evans in any way.
Alot of people are asking questions that have already been answered by JK Rowling herself. If you go to jkrowling.com, you will find the answers to most of your questions.
Regarding the HBP, i believe that he will be a new charachter. I hope we will learn something about Dumbledore in book 6, because up to now we have heard very little about his family, and his past. It is possible that he is a half blood.
Any way, happy hunting!!
Look i never said that i was sure some one was switching houses i just said that its a rumor that is going around, the only person i see possible of being the half blood prince is well Godric Gryffindor. its riddiculous how many people are making all these guesses without taking the time to read, what other people have said, and most importantly Jk Rowlings website, after reading the passage behind the door in JK rowlings website i started believing that it must be godric and well you can't be mean you just have to think that eveyone has the right to guess and ponder for a while, all i know is that the sword inside the sorting hat could have only been pulled out by a true gryffyndor.
I've been thinking....
This may not make sense to anyone but me but....
J.K. Rowling mentioned on her site that the color of Lilly and Harry's eyes have a lot to do with the story line.
Lilly and Harry's eyes are GREEN
...the color of the Slytherin house
And Voldemort's eyes are RED
...the color of the Gryffindor house
I don't know where I'm leading to with this.. it was just an observation.
Anyway, we know that Voldemort was going to spare Lilly's life and only wanted to really kill Harry (and, apparently, his father.. as he was the first one who died.) So.. perhaps it was because Voldemort knew of the Potter's relation to Godric Gryffindor? Lilly was married into the Potter family, meaning if the Potter's were related to Gryffindor it would be Harry and James, not Lilly, who were the ones related. We know that Harry's grandparents are dead according to J.k. Rowling's website.. so perhaps that is why Voldemort set out to kill just James and Harry?
P.S. Yes, I know Voldemort wanted to kill Harry because of the prophecy... see my theory above on that... but then why did he want to kill James as well?
well i think is going to be someone that belongs to griffindors house because jk.roling said that it look like a lion... maybe some relatives of harry or even dumbledor's........ it could be bumbledor's brother or harry's granfather.... of godric griffindor...jk.roling had never mentioned him that much...

I've been thinking that it could possibly be Neville. But I need to review Chamber to see if Harry found out anything new about Neville. You guys should really check out www.jkrowling.com. That is her site and she answers questions and dispels a lot of rumors. Yes, to JK Voldemort and Riddle are one and the same. Neither him nor Harry is the half-blood prince.
If anyone has ever read "New Clues to Harry Potter: Book 5" by Galadriel Waters and then went to mugglenet.com to see their interpretation of this book (which i'm willing to bed my life i'm the only one who has enough time before work to do such a thing) they will notice that mugglenet.com seems to believe there is a link between the mirrors above the taps in Moaning Mertle's bathroom and another mirror that may belong to someone else. They believe this link is similar to the way in which the mirror that Sirius gave to Harry is linked to the one that Sirius had owned himself. They believe that somebody may be using this mirror as a way in which to find out going-ons in Hogwarts. At the end of book 5 Harry believed that he would be able to see Sirius inside the mirror by shouting his name, and then realized that he couldn't see Sirius because Sirius did have his mirror when he died. Well.. what if someone else died with the mirror that is linked to the one in Moaning Mertle's bathroom? What if it was Godric Gryffindor? ...Or maybe someone else?
Also.... if anyone has payed close attention to J.K. Rowling's writings, they will notice that J.K. Rowling rarely, if ever, will throw in a piece of information that is irrelevant.
Remember the magazine article that someone in Arthur Weasley's office (I forgot who exactly) gave to Arthur? The one which he thought "Sirius would find entertaining." Harry deduced that the article which Arthur had been given was the one which portraid Sirius as an "innocent singing sensation." Well, we know that it was rubbish, but why then do you think J.K. Rowling would mention it not once, but TWICE? Obviously this is something she wants us to remember.... maybe Sirius has a twin out there... or even more believable.. a brother? YES! He DOES have a brother... one whom was supposedly killed by one of Voldemort's followers.
....But wasn't Peter Pettigrew and Barty Crouch Jr. also "supposedly" dead?

Oh, and I have something else to point out.
The half-blood prince CANNOT be Dudley Dursley. Yes, your ideas are plausible... but if you read J.K. Rowling's website she says that the Dursley's are hardly in book 6 AT ALL, the only glimpse of them you see is during Harry's very brief visit (less than 2 weeks according to Mrs. Rowling) with the Dursley in the beginning of the book. Now, unless the whole storyline takes place in the first chapter of HBP, then it is very unlikely that Dudley Dursley is the Half Blood Prince.
On that same note, the person who developes their powers later on in life also cannot be Dudley or Petunia, judging from what I've said above.
I think Ron is the half blood prince because in book 5 when harry was at the closed ward with sirius they looked at the family tree.....and Sirius said if there was ever a bigger group of blood traitors it was the weasleys. There for it couldn't be possible that Ron is a pure blood,so therefor he would have to be a half blood.Mr. Weasleys fasination with muggles is also a clue because he could of got promoted to a higher paying job at the ministery but turned the offers down because of it.....
