Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

yeah but people are called nicknames for a reason and the most obvious reason for you called the half blood prince is that you are a half blood i'm sticking with the dobby theroy till i'm either prooved wrong or wright on 16th july

the nick-name could be for some1 hu stuck up for half bloods continously. Someone like Godric Griffindor

Isn�t it said that Griffindor said "I will take all those with brave deeds to their name." He took only the bravest and the boldest. So he didn�t mind if it was Halfblood, Pureblood or Mudblood, did he? Think of the Trio, Mud-, Pure-, and Halfblood. Where did he stick up for the Halfbloods?

But nevertheless was he introduced in the COS, so it might be. I would like that. And he could be fitting to the excerpt we ones got from Joanne very well. 

The one about Neville: In each book he has shown more and more courage, even going to the Ministry with Harry in GOF, but didn�t Joanne say the HBP was introduced in COS? So together with the Prophecy ( that it might have been him ) I think he will be very important for the rest of the books but not as the HBP as you yourself said jcherbstritt.

THANK YOU!! g-potterfan you have just added and helped my theory that neville was once courageous at one time. I think that neville did get a memory charm like jcherbstritt said. But i think its wearing off, first sign when he was eleven, when he stood up againts the Harry and the others, he might just be getting his memory back if the theory is true!!

JK said that neville is more to do with the plot of story because on her website yes said she'd sacrice dean thomas's background for nevilles whick she said was more to do with the general plot of story but neville hasn't had a big role yet so i think he will be a big caracter in book 6+7 also a another theroy of  neville is that nevilles perants knew something important because they knew where voldemort was thats why there were torchered but maybe they knew something else like lets a prophecy or something also droobles best blowing gum is anagram for gold bribe below st .mungos remember the sweet rapers nevilles mum gave him maybe she trying to past on a message.sorry to any sleepless nights i've caused people who would be up thinking about this theroy.lets see if we can get 2000 post by the time it comes out :D

in responce to heady on the second page, in the fifth book dumbledore said that he was sent to live with his mothers sister because of trhe blood of her sister would protect him, and if he called number 4 privet drive his home, he would be protected.

Do you realize brad_asdf that Harry isn�t calling Privat drive his real home he says so himself various times. So he is not save there. That is interesting. Joanne said that harry will have a really short time with the Dursleys in HBP.... Perhaps Voldemort or his Death Eaters attack him there and he is forced to go into hiding which probably means Number 12 Grimmauld Place. She said too that someone else is going to die, hasn�t she? Perhaps in that fight? Although I don�t think she will kill somebody this early in the book. But if she does, could it be someone of the Dursleys? Perhaps Aunt Petunia, which leaves Harry without protection when staying at Privat drive. I know these are just very wild thoughts but I still found them very interesting .

But uber_panda, you made me think: What did he forget? He lived with his grannie.... But perhaps not from the second on his parents where kidnapped, someone had to look after little Neville, so who did( could be his grannie afterall )? And the next problem is even if something happend then he will have forgotten that by now... Or wait, when the Dementors come on the train in the POA what does he see? Isn�t said in there that he was really frightend or something like that? And he is able to see the Thestrals, he said he saw his grandad die, but how? Just because grandad was old?

I think it was when he was one year old. Like Harry when his parents died. But I�m not sure.

Nevilles parents didn't acctulury die they just got sent to the lunny bin

Everyone has done a good deal of thinkig on this and each theory will probably come into play at some point over these last two books. I still believe the GG will turn out to be the HBP with some form of lineage to Harry. The CoS described GG & SS as being at odds in regard to half-bloods and mudbloods. This puts the prophecy in HP's lap with LV. I also feel that Neville will play a big part in these last two installments as well. He is consistently coming out of his shell and being portrayed as more assertive. I wouldn't be surprised if his character is ultimately sacrificed in a heroic manner.

well i think i know why voldemort didn't die when the curse remounded and i remembered it didn't fully rebond or harry wouldn't have the scar so the scar could be the key of destroying voldemort-just another theroy though i'm suprised that nobodys thought of that it was obivious to me when i first read the book

I think that emotion is it what is able to distroy Voldemort. When he tried to take over Harry in the OotP he couldn�t because of, if I got it right, his emotions, love and hate ( Sirius just died ). And when Harry was one year old V. couldn�t kill Harry because of his mothers� love. It�s Dumbledor who said that V. can�t understand love. Harry�s scar is something like an alarm, it goes off when something important happens ( important to V. ), like V. being pleased or when V. gets too near to Harry, which means obviously danger. 

And I think you could be right, perhaps Neville sacrifices himself for Harry or someone else.....  in some way, not neccessarily dying.

This is a great thread, pity I haven't the time to read all the posts. In any case here's my two pence worth.

This is a quote from one of the first two pages of posts.

It has been mentioned that Petunia Dursley is a witch, or suggested, I believe in the last book. She has definately got more to do with the entire story then meets the eye; maybe not this story line, but expect something in the future. I'm only rambling on here because I can't see Dudley being the HBP!! Or can he be!!

To be the HBP, would you not need some idea of being a wizard and have knowledge of all things magical? Would JK bring in another character at this late stage of the story who would have to adjust to being a wizard and an important one at that, or does Dudleys mother have a spell in her cauldron or potion waiting for him in the fridge?

i fink dat it could be this mark evans evry1s talking about- i mean, take alook at the facts : harry is known world wide, there is a (supposed) prince in this book, his mum's last name is evans , harry sees lots of reltives in the mirror of erised and then this name turns up. A coincidence? I really think so - NOT!!!

I think that the half blood prince is going to be someone completely unexpecting.  i think it could possibly be one of the creevy brothers or something.  well its just a guess if not them eather dean or seamus?.?.?.?.?.?
