Arcadia was a region of ancient Greece in the Peloponnesus surrounded on all sides by mountainous terrain its inhabitants, relatively isolated from the rest of the then known world, proverbially lived a simple, pastoral life. So its become associated with a kind of pastoral idyllic utopia.
