How Old Were You When You First Wore Make-Up?
43 Answers
The men can answer if they wish but ladies, how old were you? And how much did you wear? The practice is thousands of years old, and cross-cultural, but who are you doing it for ? A straw poll of my female family gets the unenlightening answer " I do it for me; I feel better".

Pompous clown...My heart stopped throbbing and I carried on wearing it.
Like Tilly I painted long lashes under my lower lid and loads of mascara..yes the block one I had to spit in. By the time I had enough mascara on I was dehydrated.
My biggest mistake was wearing a lipstick that came free with Omo or Daz. Looked like I had heart problems.
I still love messing about with make-up...don't face the world without it and love dramatic eyes for a special occasion...guess I'll stop when the wrinkles appear....x

I was 14 when I noticed all the other girls putting make up on and being able to hang around with boys again, (in case that made no sense I am a tomboy who doesn't want to grow up and get old and boring) so I popped into the bathroom and after 20 mins came back and got told I looked "like a painted doll"! Nobody had told me how to apply the stuff either which didn't help.
Now at the hideous age of 29 I wear mascara and eye liner to make me look better at 7am when I start work, mind you now the days are getting shorter I don't need to bother too much, happily.
Colours: brown eyeliner for work, if I decide to go out Barry M comes with me and we have a fab time ignoring the comments ("are you SERIOUSLY wearing that?!) to which the answer is always YES I AM!!!
