If he is willing - ask him to prescribe Sinlar Gel and rub it in regularly - daily is ideal. I have next to no hair, so a gloop about the size of a 10p piece does me. I put it on in the mornings - saves staining the pillows. If you have long hair, there is an applicator with it.
I find this very good. For shampoo, use something like Johnson's baby shampoo, or pears, but nothing with any abrasive ingredients.
Hope this helps.

Green People are a company that sell organic products and they are really good! (esp if you suffer from sensitive skin aswell.) They sell a Rosemary shampoo and conditioner specifically for itchy scalps - I have been using it for 2 years now and havent suffered from an itchy scalp for a good length of time now. Their products can seem a little expensive, but a little bit goes a long way and a bottle can last for ages! I can highly recommend them! :o)
