Pill Query - No 2

I have been on Cerazette mini-pill (POP) for over 8 years. It's been brilliant in that I never have a bleed, unless I miss one. However over the last few months I have been bleeding intermittently & irregularly. More like heavy spotting to be honest, rather than a proper 'bleed', but annonying & inconvenient nonetheless.
I am sure this is all down to my age (49) and perimenopausal symptoms etc. I am going to try and stop this bleeding by doubling up my cerazette to 2 a day instead of 1.
Anyone do this? Has tried this? Has any information to the contrary?

I used to work at a family planning clinic with a doc who was realy 'into' hormonal contraception and he enlightened me very much on the workings of it all. He used to assure me years ago that any 'breakthrough' bleeding could be controlled by just doubling up.
Ta sqad, as I thought.
