seriously tho does anyone know if i should carry on with putting in olive oil
Yes - carry on. The oil you've put in up to now is loosening the wax, and it has "pooled" in a place that means you can't hear anything - this will be temporary. In a day or two the wax will be liquid enough to be syringed, or will leak out on it's own overnight due to gravity (assuming you sleep with that ear down!).

(I find at that stage the cap of a BIC biro is the perfect tool for getting the wax out, but my wife is usually horrified when I try - I'm sure my doctor would be too)

Works for me ^^^^ too!
Lord! We'd be a nightmare in a room together, Bernie...PARDON!! WHAT DID YOU SAY!!

How about Otex?....Others tell me it's good for getting rid of wax?...x

thx sfby will carry on then, will give the biro a miss tho
Another thought - it's possible that you've used too much oil - 2 or 3 drops is plenty - not the contents of the dropper!! Again, try sleeping with your head on that side & if that is the case it should help.
I really want to type that I DO NOT have my legs wrapped around his head causing temporary deafness but I'd better not say that.

Have you got any pain with the ear-ache Cuddlyone?
I hope not
Go to the GP and get them syringes.
I just don't understand this olive oil secenario.
Our doctors always tell you to use olive oil three days before you have your ears syringed to soften the wax.
I mean every day for three days^^
In my opinion it is a " modern fad" anything to avoid having to do something.........lazyness on the part of the practice staff.

80% of ears can be cleared of wax without olive oil! the other 20% may need softening with olive oil.
Get the otex kit with the rubber ball syringe. This can blow air in or suck stuff out. Worked for me. Get it from Amazon save looking for it.

sqad only doing what i'm told by nurse she wont syringe it unless i do this?
bernie......I know! I know!
're the biro, a slightly widened hair pin works best...it actually scoops it out.

albs my love we did that before, but you hurt your back remember xxx
Now I though we all knew that you must never put anything smaller than your elbow down your ear. lol
Squad - not sure about the "modern fad" bit - I remember using olive oil for this before anyone in England had even thought of using it for cooking!!
