I have a small minor surgical procedure next week and my Gynae said I should get some Diazepam as when we tried last week my Anxiety levels peaked and we just couldn’t do it.

Reading the bumf Omeprazole and the Contraceptive can make it remain in the body a little longer. I can cope with not taking Omeprazole for a few days the pill..no.

I’m more anxious about taking the Diazepam than the surgery! I was told to take 2 prior to taking 2 on the day, but I’m working pm shifts and then 2 full days and then a pm shift the day before and I need to drive to work and home again so I can’t really ‘try’.

How long does it stay in the system for roughly? Can I get away with just taking the one 2mg tablet rather than 2?

If i was you id take what they suggested.... if i recall it does stay in your body for a while- i personally felt a bit hungover the next day but not a huge problem.

Hope you get on OK....... xx
I'd do as they suggest as well Queenie, can you get your one shift covered? Hope it all goes well xxx

Thank you Tinks and Kvalidir. In an ideal situation I’d have it with me but not take it as I can get myself calm.

Me too Tinks, hate the Gynae now but if this means I don’t have to go anymore then great.

I can’t sadly kvalidir as I’m covering the person who could cover my shifts. Working is actually helping keeping me calm surprisingly.

Will try them on Sunday and see how I feel.

Thank you Ladies xx
I had a Gynae thing recently, they're usually worse thinking about them than actually having it done, so stay calm and you'll be fine I'm sure xx

36-52 h
which I would regard as long

I would just take one as you walk into the hospital/clinic to be honest but I am me and you are you ....

Usually I don’t mind going Kvalidir but having that sprung on me didn’t help. I felt calm but when I get anxious I talk 12 to the dozen.

Thanks PP I’ll have a wee read of that tomorrow.

Everyone's tolerance is different and 2mg isn't a high dose ....when my panic attacks were at their worst I could tolerate 10mg x 2 a day is necessary.

Taking 1 tablet on Sunday if you have some free time will give you an idea how much your body will tolerate.

Good luck with your procedure xx

Thank you Seekeerz.

I refused them when I had panic attacks. I’ve came through relatively unscathed. I am sorry though to hear about the attacks you had.

I’ll give one on Sunday a whirl and if I feel I need the 2 on Tuesday I’ll take the two. I don’t want to be totally out of it just relaxed enough to get the job done.

Thank you xx
Because they helped me so much, yet I was able to stop using them when the time came that i didn't need them ....I haven't taken one for over 18 years ....I guess I'm ok with using them, but I know they have a bad reputation if over used.

See how Sunday goes, if you're just nicely chilled, you may only need one for the procedure, but just taking a couple won't get you hooked on them and they do have great benefits......take care xx
2mg. Is not a massive dose queeni. Good luck .
I think a lot of people function and work perfectly well on 2mg valium tablets every day of their lives, they only take the edge off rather than make you incapable. I'd try one on Sunday, I bet you won't even notice a difference.
