Stopped smoking 25 years ago.
Eat lots of whole meal bread, rice, pasta, couscous, chickpeas, vegetables, chicken and fish, am rigid on my 5 a day in regards to fruit.
Have one/two mugs of tea per day(only in work, never at home) with sweeteners. Eat cereal every day with almond milk.
Rarely touch cheese(sadly) and don’t eat crisps any more.
I cycle roughly 40-50 miles per week and have never felt fitter. Also, as an ex Serviceman I’m allowed free swimming at the local baths and make use of that mostly in winter.
I drink 4-5 pints per week(in one night when attending the pub quiz, when shifts allow) and will have a ‘session’ once every 3-4 months, usually a work social function, during which I’m suitably imbibed which invariably results in me walking home whilst cuddling a kebab and chips!
I’ll usually thrash myself on the bike the day after in an act of penance....LOL

I only eat fruit, green veg and walk every day so that I can have a smoke and a drink when the boring bits are done...…..Ohhh and I look after my nuts. Had my CT scan today and am hoping that next week I am told to keep doing what I am doing. Same weight as I was at 16yrs old. Just a different shape. :((
I am surprised how many people are so blase about their health. I try to do the right things, because my mother was a large lady and her last years were awful due to diabetes and other health problems. I was hoping that people watching Anne in the jungle would realise how her weight restricts her life. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Anne and I hope that being in the jungle will give her a wake up call about her own health

I can only concur. I lost 5 stone some 3 years ago. I must have been on the cusp of diabetes and/or heart problems. That, combined with my experiences of working in an Operating Theatre for 26 years made me seriously assess my lifestyle.
I'd never preach, can only advise as people have to make their own choices. All I'd say is that it's NEVER too late to take action.

I feel, Puzzled, that the "healthy" amongst us have a balanced regard for their mental health before their well documented and inevitable physical decline regardless of any preventative action they may choose to take. I used to cycle all day, run half marathons, swim 50 lengths in the local pool, do my aerobics as well and use a circuit gym twice a week. I wasn't any happier...…. I have accepted that those days are gone, and well used, and now know that I must keep my head whilst all about are loosing theirs.

I’m the opposite, I’m 53 and am looking forward to the next 5.
Today I cycled 26 miles, taking my Strava miles for this year to 1,500.
This summer on the bike has been one of the best I can ever remember.
Weather permitting I’m aiming for 1,750 next year. It’s never too late.
