Hi folks.
Feet ankles and legs are puffy and swollen, red and itchy. Skin is shining.
GP telephone consultation - put me on a course of antibiotics.
My main problem is the terrible burning itching.
Using Sudocrem, getting some relief.
What else could I use?

Epaderm Cream
Not sure, but I think you can get it on Amazon 500gms, massaged in twice daily.
It sounds like cellulitis, which is a known risk for people with oedema.

See "Things you can do yourself" here:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cellulitis/
I don't think it's cellulitis
It does sound like cellulitis- is there any weeping? Antibiotics, raise legs as much as possible. I don't think cream will make much difference x
Are you my husband in disguise?! Sounds very familiar.

Try Eurax. I know it’s not helpful at this time of night as the pharmacists are shut but do try it when you can.
>>> I don't think it's cellulitis

Well Theland's GP clearly thinks that it's bacterial anyway - otherwise he/she wouldn't have prescribed antibiotics!

Just ignore my post above Theland, it appears it is not correct.
Sure, but that doesn;t mean the GP thinks it's cellulitis

I'll go to Boots tomorrow and ask the pharmacist to take a look.
Thank you. (Worried).
Try not to worry Theland. I'm sure you will be OK
Sorry sqad, don't let me overrule you! Anything that makes you more comfortable theland, but this is something that can take some time to heal. And sometimes a few courses of antibiotics. Meanwhile, anything that makes your legs feel better... go for it.
Good old fashioned calamine lotion might help. It won't cure but it would soothe your burning skin.
Question Author
Ah yes calamine. That too on tomorrows shopping list :-)
remember to put some woolly mittens on to stop you from scratching.☺
are you ok today Theland?

Legs feel cool now, no itching.

E45 for £23??!!!!
£3.55 for small tube of cream on Boots site/7.49 for lotion.
Question Author
