Just got in from football and ive totally bodged up my right knee.
When i was 16 (Im now 21) i ruptured (snapped) my cruciate ligament and damaged cartilage in a football tournament.....
I've just started getting back in the game and was playing in a tounament tonight at Westway.... secind half of second game i was going in for a tackle and felt my right knee totally give way.
I was carried off by my team mates and started crying like the little girl i am... main reason i was crying was because i have the feeling ive done the same injury to my right knee which i'd done to my left (ligament) which would keep me out of football for f***!** another two years.
To top it off im going to the Dominican Republic (where, its p!$$ing it down for the next week by the way- great) on Thursday - so im just hoping i dont have to spend my time on cruches....
anyway - symptons are - big swelling on the top of my knee and at the back - a general ache and weakness coming from my whole knee - cant put any weight on it.
Hi nat, I can fully appreciate what your going through, you have my sympathies, if you can't get it looked at until you get back, at the very least take a walking stick for support, had one for indoors, for outdoors, I used a strong gents umbrella. Good luck.
Did a similar thing in karate - went off-balance during a kick and I could have sworn I'd broken it. Went to A&E, they X-Rayed it and it turned out I'd just torn the ligaments slightly. They put a tubigrip support on and send me on my way to rest it, although I was walking with a limp for about a month and it's always been my weaker knee since.
I think a completely torn ligament, or a broken bone in that area is supposed to be unbearable agony, so you may have just twisted it or over-stretched the ligaments.
leaving work early to go A and E today, to hopefully get some kind of diagnosis...hopefully he'll say its just a minor twist but unfortunately i'm fearing the worst.... which would be ruptured ligament...
Ive got a crutch from my previous operation which im using.
As for Tevez - i reckon he's off to Man U and i reckon Arsenal will get Baptista.
Apparently so - an entirely torn one damages some of the nerves endings so the pain isn't transmitted so effectively. Have they told you how long you can expect to be off it? I remember being pretty much a limping and flinching sack for around a month, and as I said, it's always been a bit of a weak knee now. Ibuprofen gel was pretty good for me though, as was keeping a tubular support on it.
Well, best of luck with it Nat - ask them how long before you can play again. They'll probably give you a conservative estimate to be on the safe side, but at least you'll know.
