Hi, Recently my lower back has been clicking (occasionally several clicks together - like a ratchet). This can happen at any time, I could simply be stretching or bending, twisting to the side etc., it is never painful (although I do sometimes have a sore back) or very audible - I just feel it clicking. I don't know what has caused it, I haven't been in any accident or had a vigorous workout - just wondered if I should be concerned and seek medical advice or just ignore it. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Definitely seek medical advice. Try your Gp/nurse or NHS Direct are available online with a self-diagnosis section or by telephone: 0845 4647

We all get bouts of back ache but any pain should not be ignored. For over a year I had lots of clicking and pain in my lower back / hip area. As it only occurred every now and then I did the usual thing of ignoring it. Then one day whilst hoovering I had an awful 'click,' followed by searing pain. I had put a disc out. After some physio its back in but now have a trapped nerve and bouts of reoccurring pain. Should be put down really! Lol!! Could be your joints but as you only get one back get it checked out and be on the safe side.
Hope your ok.
You dont mention how old you are?
Maybe its just an age thing and where your not as active as you use to be?
Some simple daily yoga streches might help??
of course clicking joints can be a sign of arthritis so maybe just get it checked out. but it doesn't always mean that, it could just be a deficiency of the important oils your joints need to stop them rubbing together.
i have arthritis so i know how much pain i can be in with it, if you're not i shouldn't worry too much.
you could try taking cod liver oil once a day, but the best is Glucosamine, its specially designed for this sort of problem.

i damaged ligaments in my back years ago, had to have physio, and this sounds like ur ligaments are 'locking', like mine do regularly. every couple of weeks i get a sore back and feel it strained, i have to sit on a chair, legs as normal, knees together and twist my upper body until it clicks, both ways, then i feel better. getting it checked out cant do any harm
