Have I broken a bone?
5 Answers
Over 5 months ago now, I dropped a very heavy drainpipe from a great height (don't ask) directly on the top of my right foot. It hurt so much at the time, it took my breath away and I was almost sick. It swelled and bruised only slightly, so I put an ice-pack on t for a while, then just thought it would just get better on its own. However, my foot still hurts in the same place, even though it was such a long time ago and there's no bruise or swelling at all any more. Is there any way I could have broken or fractured a bone in the top of my foot?! And if so, is there anything doctors could do about it even if I did get it checked out?! Any ideas what I could do instead to relieve the pain?

It was kind of a case in which I was trying to lift the pipe up to go over a pole (stage prop type thing), but the top of the pipe hit the ceiling quite hard, so I lost my grip and dropped it. So now you know! Bet you're glad you asked hey? : ) But also, I have got long arms!!!
Thanx for your answer Melto. Trouble is, I've since moved to Portugal, so not so familiar with GPs round here. And they do everything private and money's a bit scarce. In fact, I suspect I might have upset the injury by wearing flip-flops instead of my normal comfy trainers! Can't complain too much though obviously. Might make an appointment for when I next visit UK though. Thanks for your advice.
