My partner keeps getting really bad headaches, almost on a daily basis, therefore, he's always taking pain killers. He say's it's because he's stressed and he recently trapped a nerve in his neck, from coughing vigorously when he had a cold.
I keep urging him to see a doctor, but he refuses. Do you think it could just be stress and tension or something more sinister, like a Brain Tumour? Why won't men go to the doctors? I go to see my doctor at every opportunity.
He also eats alot of chocolate, a family sized bar of dairy Milk, almost everyday. Can chocolate cause headaches too?
I feel that LoftyLotties link is directed directly at my answers and here is a direct quote from that link:
" Different people have different triggers. But it is often hard to work out what the triggers are. There isn't much research on this, but common triggers "
But as chocolate is concerned there has been plenty of research from the pain clinic at the University of Pittsburgh.
Well, yes I did post that link in reply to your answer. Sorry that wasn't very clear. The BMJ link (updated August 2008) actually states chocolate as being a trigger, not a supposed trigger and to be honest dark chocolate triggers my migraines.
Also your link was quoted by a website that promotes chocolate. We can all find research to prove our point!! I prefer to believe the what's printed by the BMJ, especially as I find it to be true in my own case.
Actually, come to think of it, he does drink alot of Diet Coke too, about 6 cans per day, I guess the Caffein in that along with the Chocolate may be causing the headaches to be more frequent.
As mentioned here, a healthier diet and drinking more water could help. He had an eye test a couple of months ago, I expect if there was anything sinister, it probably would have been picked up in the test.
Yes, I believe chocolate is still seen as a potential trigger for headaches - why doesn't he just try giving it up for a month and seeing if it makes any difference? And caffeine-free Coke? (Is that still on the market?)
I like the idea of mud-wrestling, but just to check, you are a female aren't you ? Me? I am hot blooded male and if the answer to my question is that you are a female, then how about milk-chocolate wrestling, at least you would not be able to use your tongue!!!!!
Well if I were about 40 years younger I would take you up on the chocolate wrestling. However, as a female (and an OAP) just be relieved that I turned down your offer. Best one I have had in years though!!!
On that much artificial sweentner he may do well to stay off the diet coke.
I switched from sugar to sweetners and took me ages to relaise they were causing me horrible daily headaches, as soon as I stopped, the headache stopped.
I also get migraines and pressure in my head from menieres and if I strain my eyes such from too much computer work etc...
I've left my contacts out the last few days and opted for my glasses as I was getting bad headaches which came on and worsened through the day at work.
Medication can also cause headaches, both Dianette (though I'm sure he's not on that haha) and starting on my arthritis drugs caused me bad headaches.
Strain can play a bit part, my head always feels much clearer after seeing my osteopath.
Could also be sinus related, depending on where the pain is, as a holdover from the cold, if that's the case Sinutab may help.
If he has any other symptoms like vision prbolesm or dizziness etc... then he should get checked over.
No problem Panic Button.I think i'm just a bit grumpy today due to lack of sleep. :-) My other half is the loudest snorer on the planet!!! hence the reason I was at my PC at such a ridiculous time of the morning.
