Dentures
6 Answers
I had a tooth extracted yesterday and a partial denture put straight in - first time I've ever had dentures - just a small upper plate with a single tooth.
There are no obvious problems, but I've noticed my breath's stinking a bit. Not something I usually suffer with unless I've been eating garlic.
Is it likely to be the socket wound causing the smell - a bit like when you have sore throat - or could it be the denture? I was advised to keep it in last night, but I rinsed it before bed and then gave it a good clean this morning, as directed.
Has anyone else had this problem with dentures?

Think I'm OK because it just bled for a few minutes after the extraction and there's been nothing since, not even when I rinsed out after cleaning this morniing.
It's barely sore, either. Just a bit sore to the touch, that's all. The dentist and I both thought it would be a bigger job than it was, possibly with the tooth breaking and she having to cut the gum etc etc. In the end it came out very quickly and cleanly, in one piece.
She's actually said I can leave it out overnight after the first night, initially, to give the mouth a rest, as long as it goes in during the day.
