Why do they do it? Must be a mid life crisis thing.

40? That's a bit young!

I agree that men over *fifty* should probably not wear them, but forty? Really?!
errr no probably not, probably just don't care about silly stereotypes or even think about their age.
OH WSM -white shoe merchants dont have anything to do with one they are really gross
I'm over 40 and wear jeans and white trainers, but I'm not male - is that OK ?
what should they wear - tweed jacket, cords and brown lace ups ?
Lol @ brown lace ups.

I do love a nice tweed jacket, though.
Nothing wrong with it.
Haha we had a similar conversation the other day at home. What is wrong with wearing jeans and white trainers over 40?
Depends on the man not the age!! Some blokes look awful in jeans at 20 and some blokes look good in jeans at 70.

I love my old man in jeans.

What are older men meant to wear for casual gear then? Please enlighten me!!

White trainers I hate on anybody except if they are for worn for sports. Chav gear!!
Triggs looks ace in his white shoes, wow!!
Depends on the man, some look younger than their years and can carry it off.....a bit like some forty something women who can still look good in a short denim skirt and knee high boots (down boy!)
I intend to wear jeans until I leave this earth!! I love my jeans.
I hate white trainers, too. Especially when they're *really* White... like prison white. lol.

My Dad wears jeans, and he's 50! (He doesn't own a pair of trainers though)
I'm definitely NOT a chav and I have a pair of white trainers !
Unless those jeans have elasticated waistbands!!
is 40 the age to start shopping for beige and casual slacks then..?
I'm over 40 and wear jeans all the time don't do the white trainer thing though, nearly did earlier in the summer but decided against it, I prefer a decent pair of boots!
This looks more than acceptable to me:

Didnt we cover this one just a short time ago?

Im 53, I wear jeans but no white trainers.

I dont see a problem with it, I really dont see why anybody would.

mid life crisis, what utter nonsense, ive been wearing jeans since my early teens, I aint going to stop now!

Stupid question really!
I can honestly say that I've never thought about it, white trainers and jeans seem to be standard dress for most of the population - men and women middleaged people too. (not me I hasten to add)
