I am OAP and started a cold last Thursday. Its mostly in my head although my arms and legs ache at times. My nose is choked and I feel a bit miserable. What the best treatment? I had flu jag 3 weeks ago so am not worried about flu, its just a head cold. I had similar in summer but it went into a cough then my chest. I ended up with antibiotics. What can i do to feel better and get rid of it?

Why is Ibuprofen better than just plain paracetemol?
coccinele.....both have equal analgesic properties dose for dose, but Ibuprofen scores on the anti-inflammatory properties and it is often the latter that makes one feel so ill.

coccinelle..;-)

hot toddy at night and sweat it out, works for me
Head for bed.

Keep the room warm, but have a window open a little for fresh air.

Drink plenty of fluids.

Eat regularly - hot food when possible.

Sleep as much as you are able.

Its Monday here is an update. I took the tablets, though not as many as suggested. I also bought Otravine which was a big help in getting me through the night by keeping my nose clear. I scarcely went out and stayed at home in a warm atmosphere and drank lots of tea. I feel a lot better today, still a bit nasally but no aches. thanks to all who wrote. Follow all the advice given, it really works on the simple cold.
Lyn...Monday has arrived ;-)...thanks for the feedback.
