Any idea why a young girl would be commenced on warfarin after childbirth

Im aware of what warfarin is for etc but im not familiar with this scenario x

1) you can't give warfarin by injection, i'm a busy bee (as lazt gun has pointed out) the fact that she has a trouble free pregnancy proves n my eyes it was not a waste of time and money.
2) the only thing i can think of is that she was on warfarin before the pregnancy (both times when i have been pregnant i was on warfarin, switched to LMW hep during then straight back on warf the day of the birth)

The scenario of simultaneous bleeding/clotting about the time of childbirth is not uncommon. After a bleed there is a rebound in the level of clotting factors and platelets making a DVT more likely. Sepsis is also a risk factor for DVT.

The only unusual thing here is the use of Warfarin rather than subcutaneous heparin. Is it possible that she is uncomfortable with the thought of injecting/self injecting?
