Sleep talking
25 Answers
Anyone any idea why people talk in their sleep? Thing 1 (3 years old) has just started shouting while she is still fast asleep. She has a bit of a cold but is not poorly. Don't like to think that she is frightened of something, should I wake her up? Thanks.

The 1st time was on the 1st night in a hotel room on holiday. it scared the bejesus out of me!!! it became a once every few weeks thing for a while but i realised the other day that it hasn't happened for a bit now so hopefully that's the end of it. i asked our doc about it and it's quite common apparently.
sherrardk, my comment wasn't a criticism, I was just curious. My best friend has triplet grandchildren and I get fed up to the back teeth hearing about "the triplets" or "the babies". My youngest talked in his sleep and would often sleepwalk which I found a bit weird, but he grew out of both fairly quickly.
I've alwasy talked and shouted in my sleep - not that I get much as I'm an inveterate insomniac! My wife often tells me when I've been talking but she says she often can't quite understand what I'm saying. There have been a few occasions when she's given me funny looks the next day and told me I was talking - but she won't tell me what I said! That's always intrigued me of course - but she won't tell me waht I said!
