I seem to be ok with one pair but really struggling with the other as they are smaller lenses. Wore them out last night (the bigger ones) and did notice when looking sideways it was a bit blurry but had them on today and have been fine. Think the other pair will take me a bit longer though.
You do have to move your head more with varifocals, especially when reading. A computer screen is fine but a hardback book is a bit more challenging. Consequently, I tend to get neck ache when reading my novels.
You will get used to them eventually so much so that you won't be able to read anything without wearing them. Now that IS a pain.

Hang in there, a new prescription and varifocals take a few days to get used to, the longer you are able to keep them on the easier it becomes. The headache is a combination of the different prescription and the pressure put on by yourself trying to adapt. Will be better in the morning, try not to go back to your old glasses if possible.
Go back to the optition and get them to check your prescrition. Although I'd had them before, the last ones I got were just as you describe, headaches etc. I tried to stick with them for a few week then took them back, turned out that they weren't fitted right and the bridge over my nose was too big. Had to have new frames which got it all sorted.
My female partner once had variofocals and even after months complained of headaches. I noticed that when she was reading, her head/neck were bent "abnormally" downwards. I told her this and she soon realised that this was the problem. Since then, many years ago, she gave up varios and went back to separate pairs of reading and medium/long distance specs. Many headaches are caused by neck-strain even if this is not obvious to the sufferer. To save unnecessary expense at first, why not READ with non-optically corrected reading specs from supermarket or Boots while only using varios for medium/long distance use. If headaches disappear then ditch varios for two separate optically corrected pairs, each for different function.
I use varifocals for close work and computer work. I don't require glasses for distance. I have developed the habit of wearing them on the end of my nose all the time and just by looking up an down can see exactly what I need to see at any time. What I could not get used to was mono vision. I gave that up after. A few weeks as my brain was too slow to adjust quick enough
