For those of you who like to get drunk (or tipsy, even) - why do you do it, what is it that you like?

(not saying theres anything wrong with it, but just wondering if it differs from person to person)

I don't really like the feeling of being drunk, but being tipsy is great. I feel like I have much more confidence to talk to people when I have a few malibu & cokes in me!! The one thing I'm glad about though is that I don't need to drink to have a good time. I could quite easily drink lemonade all night and still have a right laugh wiv my mates.

If I go from the perspective of the hang over i have this morning - absolutely bl**dy nothing!!!!! *groan*

However, I do like being drunk, I feel relaxed and carefree, I suffer with low self esteem and when i get drunk i just don't care about all those things that i spend my life caring about.

I also have a high tolerance for alcohol (which is both a good thing and a bad thing) and don't get 'out of control'.  I've never liked taking other drugs as I feel like they are controlling me and i don't like that feeling, whereas i don't feel like that when drunk.

Now if i can just find a quite place to lie down .....

Yep, being drunk isn't for me, I don't like the feeling of being out of control.  When I've had too much to drink it's almost like an out of body experience, i can see myself being stupid but i can't stop it!

But tipsy makes me feel warm and fuzzy, a bit of extra confidence is good because I'm quite shy around people if I haven't met them before.

I hate getting REALLY drunk (however that is what normally happens).

Being tipsy and socialising is always fun - plus I love red wine - so I dont have a choice is being tipsy sometimes!

I don't ever get drunk these days, but being tipsy makes me feel good.  I am an uptight person and constantly worried and a few drinks make me relax and more able to enjoy myself.  If I am going out anywhere I like to have a large glass of red wine first, especially if I am going somewhere where I don't feel very confident (I mean a social occasion!)

I don't think a few drinks hurt anybody (unless of course they have a problem with alchohol)/

When drunk, I am smarter, stronger, and better looking. At least that's what I think at the time. Oh, and I can sing better.

Stress relief. Boredom. I tend to drink when out with mates, when I'm stressed or when I'm bored (at home alone, with nothing but Big Brother on the box for instance). The main reason is relaxation though.
I get on pretty well with people and like being around them even when sober, so not so much for that. Really, I do it as a pure drug, so that I can really really appreciate music. It only lasts about 1 hour, that effect. I get it after 2 glasses of wine. And maybe I lose my inhibitions and do something really silly, like skateboard on busstops, things like that.

Oh I LOVE drinking, but that is because I hardly ever do it. It is for social and special occasions only. I could never open a bottle of wine on my own, after a stressful day at work. I like looking forward to a night out, getting glammed up and have a gew glasses of wine.

I suppose it makes you more relaxed, more able to cope with people, you find things funnier, and it lowers your defenses, so you are more able to flirt than stone cold sober. Some of my best times have been whilst piddly. In fact, most!!

This is why I like to "save up" my units. I sometimes drink to the point of room spin, but then it's DEFINITELY time to stop, and I haven't thrown up since I was a student! It's one of life's little pleasures. It does us no good physically, but mentally it helps us through what is often a hard life.

For me its not the getting drunk part thats good, its the actual drinking.

Living in a hot country, there is nothing like the feeling of ice cold beer sliding down your throat. Rolling the condensation covered bottle across your forehead and seeing your sunglass's start to mist over.

Life doesnt get much better.

I've only ever been 'really' drunk a couple of times in my life the morning after the night before side to it.

However, not meaning to be toooo chatty, my husband & I going to a big Whitbread bash tonight & meetin up with a couple of hundred cronies - so who knows!
