I dont have a sore throat or anything just lost my voice OH would probably say thats a good thing... but no seriously what causes someones voice to go?
But without a temperature and "out of the blue"....on has to consider a psychosomatic disorder (nerves in simple terms( and having been involved over the years in you medical history, I would say that psychosomatic aphonia is the likeliest diagnosis.
I lost my voice recently and it didn't feel sore, just sort of strained and uncomfortable. Mind, I had had a cold thingy a few days prior and had been coughing a bit so put it down to this. I was squeaky most of thursday and friday, husky on sat and more or less back to normal by sunday. Now another girl at work has started sounding squeaky... but she talks a hell of a lot! ;o)
sibton thats ok was expecting it.. I do tend to sing quite a lot especially in the car or shower it might of been me trying to reach those high notes:)
I find that when I have tonsillitis I have a sore throat but when I have laryngitis, I am hoarse, have no voice at all, but also no pain. It an be overuse but more than likely is linked with a cold, for me. I usually get it at the end of a cold, after the chest infection clears up.
