I am on my feet a lot and I am now suffering with pains in my left knee. The knee feels stiff at times and the pain is very bad especially when I climb stairs.

When I get home and rest my feet, keep them up, the pain seems to subside when I get up the next day. Then I go to work and my pains start all over again. I believe if I keep off my feet for a couple weeks maybe my knee would heal itself.

Do you know of any over the counter or homemade remedies? Please share cause I really need it right now.

Ps. I do not go to the doctors. Only if my knee falls out then I will go to the doctor. :)

Go to the doctors

Hoppi, I don't want the doctors to say there's fluid in my knee, and neither do I want a needle going in my knee. I am a scaredy cat.

My dad had fluid in his knee and I saw the pains he went through after the needle.
Get a surgical support bandage............
I sometimes get knee pain and use a product my sister bought in the US. It's called Absorbine Jr. I buy it on ebay, it works wonders for me.
If you don't fancy the doctor society, try an appointment with a sports physiotherapist.
I had a lot of knee pain years ago that was treated easily and quickly for not a lot of money.
Like me, I avoid docs coz they always dish out pills. Try this

I'm going to try everything you guys recommend.

Crafty, show me a picture of what you are talking about. I could google but might get different kinds. I want exactly what you think might work.

Douglas, I'll get that stuff somehow.

Thanks for your help everyone. xx
Please just keep them coming :)
I also got pain relief via acupuncture...........

Yes, acupuncture, good idea Crafty. I've given that some serious thought for my poorly knee.
I had acupuncture for the same problem and it did zilch.

I bought an athletic knee support and it does help. Also exercises to strenthen the surrounding muscles. Lose weight if necessary.

Thanks also Chinajan for your help. I'm not heavy or overweight.
"neither do I want a needle going in my knee"

....but you are considering acupuncture!!!

Your problem might be mild, just requiring some serious rest. Alternatively it might be serious, with more harm being caused if not managed properly.

Either way you won't know unless you get a properly qualified medical practitioner to assess it.

The first step is to see your GP. He or she won't stick a needle in your knee.

Stop being a wally and make an appointment.
I see a knee replacement on the horizon!
Not necessarily Ratter.

I got bad knee problems in my left knee a few years ago, but it all settled down eventually.

I think I realised today what might be causing my knee pains.

The way I move my body from left to right, pressure and force is put on my knee. Today as I turned, I realised this and slowed down, and changed the way I moved. Knee did not bother me much since. I am going to be very conscious of my movements, and observant of the way I move around and see if this is indeed what is causing my painful knee.

Thanks everyone for your help and comments. xx

Crafty, I am going to get that knee support bandage.

Sir Alec, today my Mum told me she uses a knee rub called Bells Nerve and Bone Liniment and it works miracles on her problem knee. Think I might give that a try too. Perhaps you could see if this help you, then you won't have to order from eBay, USA.

Ratter, NO knee replacement.

Hoppi, I'm glad your knee is better. I think the same thing that's happening to my knee, may have happened to yours. And Hoppi, an acupuncture needle is in no way comparable to a big, no huge jabbing needle. :)
I'm out of touch around here and I don't have a clue how old you are. have you tried the obvious cod liver oil? Do you need to lose weight? Could you try doing some form of squatting to get your arse and thighs to take some of the strain?

Society, do you buy this from a shop or online? I have looked online but can't find it ......... OH needs to try something.
I had knee and heel problems, got gel insoles for my shoes, with arch support and the pain went. Could be worth a try.
Glucosamine and fish oil have helped me. I know because if I don't take them for a few weeks, the discomfort returns. You need to take 1500 mg of glucosamine for results.
