You know I have plantar fasciitis,in both feet, which has got worse rapidly lately and my doc has referred me to the hospital to see what else they can do.
Well yesterday I had to deliver 1000 leaflets, and after 2 hours walking I was in terrible pain but had no choice but to carry on. By 5.30pm I literally couldnt walk. Had to ring Mr Smow to come and find me and pick me up in the car. During eve had to crawl on hands and knees , looking a right idiot, to get to the loo as literally could not put anyweight on feet at all as the pain was so bad. Have woken up assuming it would have eased but it is exactly the same, and I start new job tomorrow!! Any bright ideas as to what on earth I can do to help myself??? Ive done painkillers and analgesic gel, support socks.....

Can I just ask Snowball, why on earth did you agree to deliver leaflets when you have problems with your feet? anyway, the only thing I can think of would be rest your feet today and massage with warm oil to which a few drops of essential oil of peppermint have been added. Unfortunately you probably would have to go out to get the oil so maybe rest and a dose of your favourite NSAID would probably be the best course of action.
do you have one of those roller type foot massagers? have you had them injected yet?

Had absolutely no choice re leaflets - as part of my job promotion I had to deliver 3000, over 3 sundays. I managed to get my son to help for 2 hrs and hubby for 2 as well but still didnt do the lot. Wont be doing it again!!
Question Author
Yes I have the roller. I also have a useless doctor, well when I say doctor I mean its a different one every time I go there and so no continuity. Have never even been offered injections!!
Smowball wrote //as part of my job promotion I had to deliver 3000, over 3 sundays. // Are you working for a religious organization, why deliver them on a Sunday over the course of three weeks? How strange....
I agree with the advice of sebby.
Question Author
Not religious lol. The logic is apparently that as there is no Royal Mail post on a sunday then the leaflets will be noticed more. Dont agree with that at all but hey ho.
Nor do I, I rarely read leaflets, usually go straight into the recycling bin.
Smow, one of my friends had her foot injected under ultrasound guidance at the hospital. it was better by the next day. try to get it sorted.
I had a steroid injection, made me yell for a quarter of a second but did the trick. Have you tried heel supports? Depending where the pain is - if it's under the arch, they help by forcing your feet to stretch out a bit.
I have bought gel heel supports just waiting for them to turn up to see if it makes a difference. Will report back
Question Author
Yes Ive got the heel supports too but they only seem to help for about half an hour, then the pain kicks right in. Think I have no choice but to rest as much as poss today and hope for the best! Thanks for the replies xx

Agree ummmm, around here we get a load of takeaway menus delivered at the weekend. If I ever have to do the leaflets again I will just do them anyday i want.
\\\\Any bright ideas as to what on earth I can do to help myself???\\\\

Injecting oneself would be a really "bright idea."........
Question Author
Am assuming you are talking about steroids...; )
Smowy...LOL.....no my point was after asking what you could do for YOURSELF...........injections were suggested........do you fancy injecting your own feet?............................with ANYTHING?
lol, the suggestion was really that smow should ask the doc about injections rather than DIY.

fgt, I had sharp pain under the arch and my instinctive reaction was that I needed arch supports as it felt as if the arch was collapsing. But this was exactly wrong, the arch needed pulling outwards, not pushing upwards. I don't think they'd be the instant cure smow wants, but I wear them most days and I haven't had any more trouble (over five years).

Sqad, I was teasing.....)

Seriously, Ive heard good things about the injections, and now my doctor seems to be taking it seriously we shall see what the hospital say. Can't carry on like this long term.

jno, my pain pain is in the centre of each heel - it feels as though I am standing on drawing pins when I try and stand.

I found gentle exercises to stretch the muscle/ligament (whatever it is) out, doing gentle dips off a step and wearing those toning trainers (with a really rounded sole really helped.

I got some from Sports Direct really cheap for about £12.
Dont wish to advertise but when I developed P.F. a pair of Rohan training shoes built on the same last as Brasher walking boots did the trick. Chucked my old ones away. Dog walking involves 10 plus miles per day over rough country and no trouble now.
