Is He Singing Or Crying?

My cat follows me round the house, everywhere. So when I get in the shower he just perches himself on the floor mat or in the doorway and sits quietly waiting until I'm done.

Unless I start singing.

The minute I start singing he does this really whiny meow. Its almost howling. He's either joining in with me or is exceptionally distressed.

I test it out every time now and and soon as I stop, so does he.

I thought it might have been the genre of music but I've tried pop, rock, r&b, country. I've even knocked out a few show tunes.

What's his beef!

Have you tried it out while not in the shower ?.

No, I tend not to sing in the rest of the house. The acoustics aren't as good.
My cat used to behave the same. I convinced myself that he enjoyed my singing, although my singing voice has been likened to a cats choir!
Give it a try, see if he howls.
Lol, record yourself and see if you're any good or not, that might answer your question. ;)

Could he be laughing? You never really know as they are devious little '... what's the word that I am looking for?? There mummies and daddies weren't married.

Hhhmm, well I just did a round of Trouble Maker to him and he didn't do a fat lot. But that might be because he's an Olly Murs fan. Ill have to try that one next time I doing my ablutions.
Question Author
Actually, you're probably right Trigger. He must really hate Olly Murs. He's not going to sing along to a song he doesn't like is he.
I'd give Dancing Queen a whirl.............my dog loves it!
Try "What's new pussy cat" or "Have I told you lately that I love you"

Bastard Wolf. That's what you're looking for. I mean, if their parents were unmarried...

Never tried Abba, I'll give it a whirl. Well, not literally. That would be dangerous.
Eric cries if I sing along with Adele or if I'm humming, and I think he's distressed... bloody critic cat is going back to battersea if he carries on!
My 2 bengals will sing when I am having a shower, if i am in the bath its totally different, I think they protest of me not having a bath, they like to play in the water when bathing, little sods.
Question Author
Clearly they don't appreciate real talent when they see it.
I quite agree Evian. He especially dislikes if I start to sing 'someone like you'.... maybe he's more of a heavy metal man cause me screaming at him to stop scratching the carpets doesn't seem to upset the little ginger bar steward at all.
My cats run and hide when any of us start singing :-/
Question Author
He ain't ruddy sharing a bath with me!

Maybe ill sign up for BGT with him next year. Except I'd have to be in the shower. Hmmm, maybe not eh.
I think if we could see the whole performance on video we could give you a far more informed answer.
He is probably cat-laughing at you, wondering why you don't lick yourself clean instead of standing in the 'rain' in your nuddie.
