measurements. I watched an interesting programme on last evening, hosted by a Doctor, with Julia Bradbury and Phil Tufnell, and how people perceive their weight, trying to get them to reassess their thoughts on what food and drink they consume, and being overweight... Most of the blokes didn't get their waist measurements right, most off by quite a lot. I think the celebs that were also interviewed and did the various tests were quite shocked at the level of their obesity and problem, like diabetes..

I'm not going to tell you mine, because it always horrifies me. The height of a small child comes to mind....

going on my own observations, and linking it to that programme i would say that many people in the capital have a serious weight problem...
Yes- 32 inches although I can get away with 31" sometimes. Your question made me realise that although I use metric measures for most things I still think of my waist size in terms of inches
So do I ff also inside leg measurement.
If I didn't know my waist size I'd never be able to buy trousers that fit.

Hang on a minute .....
Why do do think of my inside leg measurements, tony?
I'm not going to tell you mine, because it always horrifies me. The height of a small child comes to mind....
Not yours ff, my waist size in inches also my inside leg measurement in inches.
The men on the programme all wrote the size they buy in jeans/trousers - the true measurement was a few inches more in almost every case.
Ah- my jeans are 31/32 so maybe my waist is a little more.
I don't mind- I'm just pleased it hasn't changed for 25 years
My oh wears a 32" waist jeans, his proper waist measurement is higher, maybe that is because he doesn't wear jeans that sit on his actual waist, I don't know any man that does really as they would all look like Simon Cowell if they did :-/
I dread to think. I remember when my measurements were 35, 25, 35". Maybe it`s time to sign up to Weightwatchers.

Interesting - so they weren't fooling themselves, they were misled by garment makers? Why aren't jeans labelled with the correct size?
That point was made jno - as stated above most men wear their jeans lower than actual waistline, which is betwixt top of pelvic bone and first rib, around belly button area.
jeans maybe, but I'm not sure that's true of trousers?

I'll go for it,
34" that's just 2" bigger than when the RMs and I parted company 20+ years ago
The rough guide was that your waist should measure half your height. My waist is 32 and height 64, but I am regarded as very light. Granted my waist was once 28 but I was about 7 st 10 back then! I'm now 8st 9. Methinks that few people meet the criterion, but the rest may well be in no danger.
jno - yes, true with trousers as well.
I wear mens 34 jeans coz the bum looks slimmer. I think ;)

jno, that is exactly what the doctor told the blokes, that it is the garment manufacturers who do this.. Chrissie Rock the actress shouldn't really have been surprised at her results, lifelong smoker not to mention the drinking, she said she was gobsmacked, as she now has type 2 diabetes, i do get checks for cholestrol and diabetes but just to be on safe side will ask the doctor this week to do a blood test.
You don't have to be fat to have high cholesterol. Mine is (TDL) 7.2 (very high) and my BP is also high. I haven't smoked in nearly a year and am a size 12 clothing.
