Around 3 am this morning i heard loud clicking noises coming from our front garden. The automatic lights came on but I couldn't see any animal. Has anyone any idea what animal emits a clicking noise. This is not the first time I have heard it.
Cheers

As Jamesnan said it could be a hedgehog. We heard a clicking sound on our patio last year and when we looked outside that is what we saw - 2 of them actually so maybe it is a mating thing!
Maybe a songthrush smashing a snail shell on a stone to get an early breakfast ?
It could be a mouse. I once saw one on the stairs going clip clipity clop
I remember being in the middle east once and can specifically remember the camel we were riding on making clicking and chomping noises. Do you have an animal sanctuary, zoo or circus near you?

Did you find fur stuck on the bushes or animal droppings? Then what makes you think it was an animal as last night was friday so it was probably just some late night revellers wearing high heels walking past your house

My guess would be bats.
We definitely heard clicking noises from a pair of hedgehogs in our garden a couple of years ago.
You could look for hedgehog poo. It looks for all the world like a blackened dried-up worm.

Ostriches "boom" in the night - very strange if you don't know what it is.
