Birth Announcement'

For those that were interested I had my little girl yesterday, weighing in at 9lbs exactly. It was a very difficult week as I spent Monday to Thursday night in early labour without dilating more than 2cms. I went in to the hospital for a third time on Thursday night asking them to let me in for the night so I could get some pethidine and finally some sleep (had barely had a few hours rest since Monday night). Thankfully they agreed but I'd only been asleep for an hour before my waters broke and the pains got worse. I was loving the entonox tho! After a few hours of that and still getting nowhere I was put on a drip with an epidural. But even with high strength Syntocin for 4 hours I had only dilated another centimetre. At 11.00am I was offered C-section as I was totally knackered and clearly we still had a long way to go. So I went for that, and she was born 1.5 hours later. She is absolutely perfect and we are very proud!

congrats! with a similarly arduous labour myself (almost 21 yrs ago now!!) i duly sympathise - make sure you sleep lots over the next couple of weeks and let dad and others lighten the load as much as possible. i stayed at my mother in laws for 14 days after birth.....it was heaven! take good care of yourself x
