Since my marriage ended 3 years ago I've been celibate by choice. I've met a few nice men but they all wanted sex after one or two dates. I'm not a dried up old crone at 65 I just don't want/need sex anymore. Any views on this please?

kat-kin - see my link. There are a few websites mentioned on there that might be of interest to you. Always worth a try
thank you China :-)

I think the issue here is whether OP definitely doesn't want a physical relationship or thinks one or two dates is too soon.
if the former then i think she needs to be clear about this from the get go. Men are not mindreaders and its going to be easy for them, poor simple creatures, to misunderstand that all that is on offer is a goodnight kiss.
I was widowed at the same time as a number of my friends...scared the remaining husbands...☺
None of us wanted to get into a relationship again...didn't fancy a sexual relationship at all....but after a time...and a few celibate dates...that changed for some of us.
It may for Kat-kin.
indeed it may gness, but for the mean time, I think up front honesty is the best idea.

237SJ, I just had a glance through the link, interesting so thanks for that. Maybe "Date" is the wrong word? My friend "female" is also divorced but isn't celibate and can't understand why I am. I had a try on a senior dating site saying I was looking for companionship but the members I met wanted more so I gave up on that. I might just try the Platonic site that 237SJ posted. Nothing ventured etc?

Im happy for you gness. You never know,I could change my mind someday.
Exactly. I agree with woof- honesty is best, but on a platonic site- there should be less room for confusion.
Or have your mind changed, KK.....by some dish who sweeps you off your feet....☺
Well looks like George Clooney's spoken for now so might as well be celibate.
Stephen Fry is still free though....isn't he?
I think SF, may always '' be free'' :)
And I love a challenge.....☻
hiding to nothing :)
Well then we'll talk....♥
kat, sorry for digressing on your post,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,G. led. me astray.
Hmmm.....you wait til I post about leading Stephen Fry astray..☺☺☺
I look forward to that post...............
Can't be arsed to read through the answers (sorry) but I totally get you.
Sex isn't the be all and end all.. and I'm 32! :-)
Honestly, it just seems like a chore to me.
Ah well.. OP Kat-Kin....you do what you feel is right for you, same with anyone.

However they do say that if you can't be bothered with sex, then you're maybe not with someone who knows how to make it worth bothering about.... Hope Clooney doesn't disappoint you G xx
If you choose to abstain from something such as sex, then after a while it ceases to be a big deal for you. If you opt to indulge a few times you'll probably wonder why you didn't want to do it regularly. It's your choice though. If all you want is friendship then find someone who feels the same. If you decide want to be close and intimate instead, then go for it in your own time.
