I have had aches in my shoulder for a few years. I have regular massages and dr said it could be from a heavy handbag. It seems to be getting worse and I am taking Ibuprofen.I do suffer with a little arthritis in various places, although not sure if it muscular in the shoulder. I cant turn my head around too far on that side, very stiff. Feels bruised. Help anyone ?

stop using your handbag?
No big deal smurfy, sounds like musculo-skeletal pain almost certainly from you neck (cervical spondylosis) due to the wear and tear of an ageing spine.

Continue with the Ibuprofen if it is easing your pain.

I use a cross body bag now ! Thanks Sqad as always
The "heavy handbag" is so typical of the modern GP, with their impoverished diagnostic skills, but reluctance to admit it and refer to a specialist (which is obviously what you need)
